I'm disappointed, yet not since Portal doesn't need swearing/violence/sexual themes to be cool. Though, consoles will for sure get more kids... I'm glad I'm a PC gamer.
Portal is a game that doesn't need an M rating. I think it's a good thing. It's going to be great, it'll have great puzzles, it will be incredibly funny, and it will be accessible for all age groups. A game doesn't need an M or T rating to be good.
I thought the T rating for Portal 1 was a bit steep.
if that's still SFM.. pure sex
I'd like to see what the community will make to replace those 2 bots.
Probably polygonal anime models.
Those robots are more developed characters than in most modern videogames, and they don't even speak.
I love them :buddy:

I hope whatever is made is better than the Gamestop preorder costumes. I still cant figure out what it's supposed to be.

PEGI rated Portal a 12.
PEGI rated Portal 2 a 12.
I don't see the problem.
Because Valve wants a bigger audience, even if it means catering to the kids.
I don't mind it at all; whatever will bring Valve more money and into the spotlight. What's odd though is that Portal takes place within the dystopian dark Half-Life universe. I understand that Portal and Half-Life are both widely different games with its own tone, but it will be awkward if some little kid finds out about Half-Life and how it ties into Portal.
and I think Valve removed the blood splatter on the walls whenever Chell gets hit by an sentry.
Uh, I don't think catering to the kids with a lower ESRB rating will help. Look at how many kids play Halo, CoD, etc.
Portal 2 doesn't deserve a T rating. It doesn't need to have blood or inappropriate language.

I want that.
That was cute, I loved the first piece of music
"Lol wut is portal? Is it like Black Awps?
Wut? You need to THINK in this game?
Nope i need explosions all day erry day."
I know they're just trying to appeal to all audiences, but oh god, I can't stand Gladoses voice sounding that.. happy?

I imagine there's a reason behind it. We'll just have to wait and see.
Responsible parents who will care about what their child plays will think otherwise - unless if the child was already taught the difference between entertainment and reality.
Judging how many console kiddies play CoD, I'm guessing a lot of them knew the difference or their parents don't give a damn.
Modern parents just don't care anymore. The only ones that do are the parents that don't even let their kids have consoles.

In the original video she says "We're going to have fun, even if it kills you."

Some of the new chambers are huge. It looks amazing.

I understand that Portal and Half-Life are both widely different games with its own tone, but it will be awkward if some little kid finds out about Half-Life and how it ties into Portal. Don't know why you guys care so much about ratings when you can easily avoid children by playing w/friends or turning off the mic volume option. Ratings doesn't matter since you're bound to enjoy the game.

Eh not really Spy Kids and Machete share a character and those are both targetted at very different age groups
I'm sure there's other examples, but I can't think of any.

They do?
what
At 4 seconds:
That tall robot looked into the operational end of the device, isn't there a warning against that?
They do?
what
You've obv. never seen Spy Kids. One of my favourite movies as a kid.
I should pre-order this...
I believe Valve will wait when the game is near to show off some pre-orders. I am seriously jealous of Amazon's german pre-order.
Let me clarify my sentence so you can actually understand it: little sensitive kid loves Portal. researches into Portal more. finds out about Half-Life with it's evil alien race and Black mesa shit. kid becomes scared by alien monsters from Half-Life.
Half-Life isn't that bad. There's no way it could mess up a kid. It wouldn't have scared or phased me as a kid.
I love the idea of Portal 2 being an E rated game. The idea of this wonderfully crafted game with not a lot of violence and asks you to solve puzzles to get through the story rather than kill random people to get to a goal. Just the idea of kids getting invigorated and inspired by a great game. That and the two cute robots help sell the game more.
Well, I'm probably gonna play co-op with a friend, I'm not entirely sure how much trust I can put into a random stranger.
is it still on that if you preorder the ps3 version of portal 2 you get a code to activate portal 2 on steam?
i was pretty sure i read that somewhere...
[editline]18th March 2011[/editline]
or did you get portal 1 extra for pc?
"Lol wut is portal? Is it like Black Awps?

That's not how a Black Ops/Call of Duty player thinks. That's how the "hardcore" gamers think.
