[sp]I loved the Combine Soldier at the Teleporter.[/sp]
Now he's going to learn full boatless.
i'm not saying it shouldn't count, but does it with the amount he's modded the game?
while they don't change the gameplay, some of the textures and models were changed, and there's some scripts running.
Can anyone explain to me why it's possible to move like 100 mph in HL2 but in something like TF2 or CSS the same movement isn't possible?

i know for sure they gimp the air acceleration on purpose in CS:GO (prevent bunnyhopping, splitting the playerbase etc) but maybe there's something similar with TF2
the same movement is possible in surf maps sort of
that's because the server owners raise the air acceleration back up
i remember getting blown the fuck away by DwaHMoV a while ago, speedruns like this always astound me

Moving 100mph in a single player game isn't as game breaking as it is in a multiplayer game.

Restrictions hardcoded in engine

TF air acceleration might have worked similar to how Portal's works closer to its release, but chances are it was updated to match a CS-like model later on.
i think this is a prime example of why they changed the movement in CS
Imagine G-Man's reaction to seeing Gordon jumping around.
An entity that surpasses even the interdimensional being G-Man himself is.
What you don't see is G-Man actually getting winded because he can barely keep up with Freeman.

It does count. He doesn't use any scripts, and he's only modded textures and a few voice lines for Cosmod.
Wow, I just started watching him. Half-Life 2 is faster than Half-Life 1, and has some really amazing speed tricks. But it also has some very slow moments, namely the cutscene parts where you're waiting on NPCs.
I love how he modded the Eli skin and voice clips, so now it just sounds like Eli is some senile speed runner blathering about random nonsense.
Can anyone explain to me why it's possible to move like 100 mph in HL2 but in something like TF2 or CSS the same movement isn't possible?
Because Valve broke it so that in HL2 when you are moving faster than the speed limit they set it just subtracts speed until you're below the limit again, the problem is that when you're going backwards subtracting forward speed is the same as adding reverse speed, so if you're bunnyhopping backwards is just makes you go even faster until you hit the Source Engine speed limit. Combine that with another bug that lets you move sideways but still have the engine think you're moving backwards and you can just grab the game by the balls and move at a million miles per hour. And since it's a singleplayer game they just said fuck it and left it in.
i wonder if he will get sub 1:32 with his new strats
his use of trickshotting the combine soldiers in nova prospekt with the energy balls gave me a fucking boner, i've never been able to do it that well

how do you think gman gets to places that fast?
Can anyone explain to me why it's possible to move like 100 mph in HL2 but in something like TF2 or CSS the same movement isn't possible?
biggest reason is that it's a different version of the same engine, they basically mod it into what they need. Portal 2, CSS, and TF2 all have different versions, at least, slightly.
this is why you can't just drag and drop things into tf2 and use a portal gun, or when you use a portal gun in hl2 by putting the hl2 maps in p2, it glitches massively
it's also why you'll never see (the current) gmod with a non LUA portal gun
there are a few different console commans for different versions as well, and slightly different physics
Pretty impressive run, can't wait for boat-less

for the worse tbh, bhop was so fun
csgo (and occasionally post 2010 css) still has bhop but nowhere near pre 2010 cs. like in csgo you're capped to 315 (300?) u/s and can only reliably get ~4 hops

not the same, that's just raised airaccel. he's able to go fast so quickly because of ABH/ASH

I just watched 10 minutes of some guy bhopping
His shots look like utter bullshit in the video, but the bhopping is awesome lol.

shots always look off on demos, it's just a side effect
phoon doesn't cheat
The wiki says that WR is 1:27:51. Is there something I don't know about?

that's a segmented run.

Alright, thanks. I thought it had something to do with the new engine making some old strats obsolete.
It's also worth noting that this is his fourth world record in less than a week, if you look at his highlights.

Also, in TF2 you don't get any extra velocity in the horizontal direction when you jump (hl2 always adds a bit of velocity if you are under the speed limit as far as i know), and there is not enough air control to gain speed by turning mid-air
