Avatar Fan Artwork, along with Time-lapse of Drawing. - General

So, saw the movie the day it came out. I'm one of those people, who if I read/see/hear something I really like, I won't be able to stop thinking about until I do something with it. So I spent a few hours and cooked up this. I also recorded the first 75% of the actual drawing process, so have a look at that too. I'm trying to learn a little bit with every drawing I make, and so far it's been interesting. All the accidents and ideas that can crop up make it so exciting. Backlit. Leaf brush = no no Not only are the Na'vi stupid looking, but you kind of got the form wrong. They don't have pointy tails. I can't really comment on anything else because the lighting is so terrible.

I guess it's just a beginner habit I need to shake. The form and all that was odd too, the tail bit is my mistake. They're exceptionally tall/lanky things and it was odd to work with after getting used to regular human form. Also, I like my leaf brush :saddowns:

Regardless of what others say, I thought it was great. I think the use of the bioluminescent lighting was both accurate and mystical. Although the form may not be accurate it's still exceptional. FP get over yourself, this is fine artwork.

I think this is a brilliant piece of artwork, i don't know if it is true to avatar because i haven't seen it, but it looks very good. You should make some more timelapses, they inspire people like me to draw

Look great though Daoplu, glad to see you're utilizing those videos far better than I ever have! For being your first project after the renaissance sparked by those videos it's even better. You bastard now I want to try and paint again -_-

I like it, although some things look different it overall looks very good.

There is sunlight from the trees but the bio-luminescent plant-life create that kind of glow. not to mention that's great dual-point lighting.

Great work. I'm a big time-lapse drawing videos too; they really help me learn.

My favorite part was when you made the brushes.

It's something I just picked up (my comment to Ajacks above) and there's definitely a lot of possibilities I didn't even realize existed. Call it what you want: lazy, quick, etc. I just call it using the program to it's full potential.

Two gripes about this- I hate the expression on the face, it just looks dumb, and the foreground, figure, and background all seem to have a different style to them, like they don't fit together.

Minus the character (no offense, I just love the background immensely) and a bit larger, this would be my desktop background. I love it.

Going to see the movie today in 3D. :v: This piece is so great, and I love time lapses. Also, if you could provide me with a full screen background only image that would be great, not that the character is bad, I just prefer my backgrounds to be simple if you know what I mean.
