Some people rip off the corner of the packet with their teeth. Others, while driving, squirt the ketchup directly into their mouth, then add fries. Some forgo fries at the drive-through all together to keep from creating a mess in the car.

After observing these and other "compensating behaviors," H. J. Heinz Co. says it spent three years developing a better ketchup packet.

Heinz says the new "Dip and Squeeze" packets will begin replacing the traditional rectangular ketchup packets later this year at Wendy's Co. restaurants. Smaller chains including Chick-fil-A Inc., Smashburger Master LLC, and International Dairy Queen Inc. started carrying the packets earlier this year.
McDonald's Corp. and Burger King Holdings Inc. are testing the packets but declined to comment on the results.

As the name promises, "Dip and Squeeze" ketchup can be squeezed out through one end or the lid can be peeled back for dipping. The red, bottle-shaped packets hold three times the ketchup as traditional packets. The new containers are more expensive than the old sleeves, but Heinz hopes customers learn not to grab more than one or two.
I actually really like this idea. I love Ketchup and always use at least 10 packs a meal.

I'll still grab 20.

Just buy a ketchup bottle.
I like it.
Just buy a ketchup bottle.
And bring it with me every time I go to a restaurant? No.
I hate resturants that make you pay like 30p for a sachet of sauce
I need like 5 of them minimum and its not like they NEED the money, its just irritating
Somebody needs to go to Chick-Fil-A more often.
Slow news day?
Thank you, Heinz. Hopefully we'll see these everywhere soon. I'd love to not have to deal with the traditional packets ever again.
Seriously, this brilliant. Innovation is still fantastic, even in small forms.
Somebody needs to go to Chick-Fil-A more often.
Those are only South East I believe. Which sucks because it's an amazing Chicken place. Better than KFC, imo.
Wait, how are you going to squeeze every bit of the sauce if it has the harder plastic shell for the sauce's Peel and Dip function?
I'd assume it would be like trying to squeeze sauce out of this.

It'd help if there was a picture of it that wasn't just top-down. I'm hoping they have something worked out down there.
This an amazing idea, I am surprised no one has thought of it before.

I assume Heinz have made something clever that does this, which is what makes it special.
Um, I've seen these everywhere already.

I live in Arkansas, and last time I was in California, there was a Chic-Fil-A down the street from his house. It's not fair because we don't get In-N-Out Burger.
Also the best food places have hyphens.
These have been at Chick-Fil-A for a number of years now...
Um, I've seen these everywhere already.
There's a buttload at my parents store/deli.
chic fil a and zaxbys already have these.
Uh, Can you give us the proper source?
Oh shit sorry, was looking at two things at once. Proper one updated.
These started popping up at chick-fil-a earlier in the year, you can't really squeeze them though... unless I'm been doing it wrong. I've just been using them to dip.
I just coat all the chips in sauce then use a plastic fork. Easy.

but then the underneath chips arent covered!
If I know that I'm going to eat fast food from a takeaway, I just bring my own ketchup bottle because there is never enough ketchup. No exceptions.
the reason i don't use any sauce on McD's is because the pack the ketchup and mayo comes in sucks major dicks

I've only seen them here and they are damn good.
I don't think i've ever put ketchup on my fries, just never had a taste for it.
Sweet!
er,
Salty!
Chick-Fil-A has been using these for a good while.
And it is AWESOME.
