Okay now trying something different I have the ibook 3g 600 mhz edition and I got some osx 10.2 disks but when I go to install them it boots up then gives my a exit code 0. I was wondering if anybody knew how to fix this?
Can anybody help me?
Firefox 1... Probably? Possibly an early copy of Safari. There might be copies of Internet Explorer (ugh) floating around for OSX. Why are you running such an old machine anyway?

Your disks are wack. The 600 mhz iBooks came with 10.2.

Actually, my bad, Wikipedia says the next generation did. You should be ensured compatibility, though. Perhaps it may be a hardware issue - I know there were some issues with peripherals and odd RAM sticks then. AHT won't get it for some reason, though. Do you know whether 10.1 works?

[editline]11:44AM[/editline] Now one thing I have heard is that I have the version with a firewire and for some reason I have heard that it might need a firmware update. No can anybody confirm this and how would I do it.
Here's a guide specifically for computers upgrading to 10.2 [url]http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1395[/url]

I suppose. From what you've said I really can't identify further.
[QUOTE=HubmaN;21693849]I suppose. Idk why but they should be good enough.
Nope, not specific enough. If you have Apple Hardware Test on a CD (should be freely available) could you give us specs? I don't know anything about having OS 9 directly on 10.1 discs but I know there was a combo box sold with both.

Perhaps try the Classic preference pane in Preferences. It's been ages! [editline]04:14PM[/editline] Actually, it isn't Classic - Startup Disk, I mean.

No, it means you must boot from HD. [editline]04:22PM[/editline] Wait...
[QUOTE=HubmaN;21694464]No, it means you must boot from HD. [editline]04:22PM[/editline] Wait...[/QUOTE] HD? isn't that the hard drive. [editline]12:27PM[/editline] Okay when I am in the osc 10.1 install disk I cna format/partition the hard drive with a check box to install osx 9 drivers should I do this?
That's odd, it's in the No Upgrade Required category. [editline]04:28PM[/editline] Yes, you should.
So should I leave like a 2 gig partition for osc 9 and the other one for 10.1 temporarily?
Yeah. Classic goes up to 10.4.
Okay formated the hard drive with a 15 gig partition and a 2 gig now reinstalling 10.1.4 or something and then I have to work on getting classic.
Right, report in when you're back.
[QUOTE=HubmaN;21694844]Right, report in when you're back.[/QUOTE] Well just for the sake of getting info you say I have to get an osx 9 disk?
I don't think they come bundled together - although the issue isn't with your firmware you may want to install OS 9. [editline]04:48PM[/editline] Actually, you're right, my bad too - "some" OS X discs can install a System Folder. Do you have an Additional Software disc?

Odd, I have the combo set one with seperate Apple Hardware Test and seperate OS 9.

[editline]03:23PM[/editline] Also are you positive that I don't need to update my firmware because my screen shot says it is a ibook (not the dual usb) which needs the firmware update.
