Is it worth it getting the Apocalypse if I never played any XCOM games apart from the new ones? The setting is kinda interesting

I took a heavy interest in Apocalypse and honestly it is really hard to give a good answer.
The best part about Apocalypse is the intruiging setting and overall alien feel to it. It adds a lot of new layers and dynamics to the game, it's definitely a unique title out of the series. Furthermore due to the funky graphics, most aliens do truly feel alien.
That said, the game did not age all that well. It can feel clunky at times, the interface is pretty cumbersome at times. Also a lot of mechanics are missing or not that polished.
Overall it's a very atmospheric game but it's rough around the edges, if you can get past that fact, you are in for a decent time.

I loved UFO Defense and Terror From The Deep but couldn't get into Apocalypse. Something about the new art style is too weird for me.
