Hi, Facepunchers. I'm building my first gaming PC and need thoughts on the setup. I'll be using it for gaming and music production. Applications include: - Games: - Team Fortress 2 - Call of Duty 4 - Battlefield: BC2 - Fallout: New Vegas (when it comes out of course) - Other: - Ableton Live - Renoise - Reaktor - Sony Vegas - Adobe Flash, Photoshop My budget is about $1300 but it can be a bit elastic. I probably will want a new mouse and keyboard, and possibly a new monitor down the road. And I live in Winnipeg, Canada. The specs: HD :: 2 x Seagate 1TB Sata II 32MB PWR :: OCZ ModXStream Pro 600W ATX Power Supply CPU :: (Q9550 - 2.83GHZ) CORE 2 QUAD / 1333 MHz FSB / 64-BIT / 45 nm / 12 MB L2 CACHE / SOCKET LGA 775" MB :: (P5Q PRO TURBO) (INTEL P45) INTEL SOCKET LGA 775 MEM :: 2 x OCZ2G10664GK 4GB DDR2 PC2-8500 GOLD EDITION DUAL CHANNEL MEMORY KIT Video :: EVGA GeForce GTX 275 SuperClocked 896MB DDR3 Sound :: (PCI-Ex) SOUND BLASTER X-FI XTREME AUDIO Thoughts?
Where are you buying it from? For $1300 you can do a lot better. Let me put something together... (I put this together in about 5 minutes, I'm sure someone can get you a better deal, but I'm just showing you what you can get for around $1300.) CASE: Antec 900: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129021 Motherboard: MSi LGA 1156 motherboard: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130264 GPU: Gigabyte 5850: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125318 Antec 550w PSU: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371016 CPU: i5 750: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115215 i7 860: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115214&cm_re=i7_860-_-19-115-214-_-Product (Since you might be using this computer for Vegas and other applications as well) RAM: 4GB DDR3 1333 RAM: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220435 HDD: 500GB HDD 7200rpm: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136314 OR, 2TB HDD 7200rpm: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822145298&cm_re=2tb-_-22-145-298-_-Product Keyboard: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823109019 Mouse: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826105091 CD/DVD drive: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827118030 This totals up to about $1055 ($1155 with i7, $1225 with i7 and 2TB space, and $1125 for i5 and 2TB of space.) You can use the rest to buy Windows 7 if you don't have it, or buy a new monitor. Hope this helped!
I got the parts from the online listing of a local computer store. But thanks a lot, will check those out.
