Transfering music from Ipod Touch to Computer/Jailbreaking Ipod
7 replies, posted
As the title says, I want to transfer my 10 gigs of music from my ipod touch 2generation to my laptop. I have tried some things like copy trans but you need to buy it fully to be able to transfer all music to the computer.
So is there any way that i can totally transfer my music to the laptop without paying anything?
And i also want to jailbreak it, 2gen running 2.2.1 because i dont want to pay the 5 bucks for the upgraded version.
So will jailbreaking it take all my music and apps off the ipod?
Thanks
Jailbreaking will completely format your IPod.

You need this site for jailbreaking in some cases anyway, so you might as well download the new firmware (VERSION 3 OR LOWER ONLY, NOT 3.1) and use that.
Darn, but thanks anyway.
No it won't. It will only clear your ipod if you go to firmware 3.0 first.
To transfer your music just enable "See hidden folders" under the folders menu in control panel. You also have to enable disk use on your Touch. Once it's done, go to the folder called "Control" on your iPod, and all your music should be in there.

Are you sure? I just did this, and I didn't have a control folder.

Yeah and I'm pretty sure there is no "disk use" for the ipod touch. only the older ipods had that feature, well that's what I thought.

This is not actually possible.
