Just like Red Orchestra 2 recently,ARMA Cold War Assault is now free for a limited time as well!
http://store.steampowered.com/app/65790/
Add it to your library before Monday and you have it forever!
[sp]there's no articles anywhere but I thought i'd still post this[/sp]
Thanks! Always nice to add to the Steam library; whether or not I'll actually play the game or not is a different matter.
And i´m guessing that this game is horribly optimized.
Like most of the arma games.
It's free because of the mass Bohemia sale, Arma 3 is (was?) free to play till Sunday but they took their massive sale down. They got hacked this morning.

It's more than ten fucking years old.
I used to play this with a steamgroup, was alot of fun. This looks like a nice excuse for the group to get together again.

I grew up on this game. There's something endearing about the almost terrible ad-libs
Cold War Crisis and Resistance had some of the most ridiculously awesome mods.

Makes the current Arma modding scene look fucking horrendous by comparison.
Don't forget FFUR, probably one of my favourite OFP "conversions". Adds some very nifty features, content and sound. I also recommend any BAS mod, they had SOAR Blackhawks with fastroping and ropeladders, A/MH6 Littlebirds, some really good infantry units and best of all, a Chinook that when set to auto-hover, the passengers could walk around inside and use it as a sniping platform.
There are about a million different mods out there, some ridiculous, some awesome, many both. There's a couple of mech addons, one being the Titan from Tiberian Sun, can hardly remember the other. There's a WH40k mod, Starship Troopers and p.much anything you can think of.
-snip, already answered-
yep that's a 10+ year old game if i've ever seen one. the AI is better than arma 2's, at least.

Apart from I44, VTE and FDF are being made for A3. There are also American Civil war units and a world war 1 mod for Arma 2. These things take time to be made.
Don't forget the Warhammer40k mod for this as well.

Incredibly great 40k mod.
Don't forget the great Aliens and Zombies mod. There's also some good Halo ones.
seems arma 3 was not free weekend?

Incredibly great 40k mod.
Shame the MP for that seems to be essentially dead. Either that or the only people left playing it are in US timezones.
Don't forget the best mod ever. ECP mod.
http://operationflashpoint.filefront.com/file/Enhanced_Configuration_Project;70118
Literally the best sound/effects mod ever. Soldiers getting out of APCs while burning and screaming like crazy. It's awesome.

how did i miss this
Dare I say I think someone should set up a game for this. It's been eons since I have played this game.
Joke's on you, I already have it.
Joke's on you, I already have it.
I quickly went to the store page to add it to my library and it prompted me to install the game. So I thought that I had to start the install and then exit it to just keep the game, well it started and I looked at my library to find it and it was already in my Arma tab. Then I realized that I had already owned it because I bought the whole Arma package when it went on sale while I was drunk. :v

The:
-Moving the hand all over the receiver
-The animation of getting in and out of the car
and
-Turning the head to the right all the time
Are just timeless
This game is immense amounts of stupid fun for HOURS.
Star moments for me were playing the Russian campaign's second mission where you have command of a full squad and you need to take out three Resistance strongpoints.
I ordered everyone to pile into a BMP, hopped into the commander seat, and drove the thing around blowing everything up.
Also one of the American Spec Ops missions where you have to sneak into a Russian Armor Brigade garrison and plant C4 everywhere to disable their tanks and then run.
I hopped into one of the Tanks, burned the place to the ground, and drove away laughing.
