So just a few days ago my PC would crash when I started any sort of 3d application and these blue lines would appear all over the screen. The keyboard and mouse became unresponsive and when I turned it off and restarted, there was a loud beeping loop coming from my computer. I can only guess that this is an overclocking issue as it was much hotter than 85 degrees celsius when I got it out.
So right now I can only ask for the help on removing the overclocking. I have tried removing the drivers and no dice. I've ran NVIDIA NTune but it hadn't helped. EVGA Precision didn't work due to "unrecognized hardware". So now is it possible for the help of the hardware gurus of Facepunch?
NVIDIA 9800 GT Overclocked <-- Here's the culprit
MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
ACPI x64 Based
eMachines MCP61PM-GM
6.0GB Dual-Channel DDR2@401MHz
2048MB GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 Integrated
Two AMD Athlon II X2 235e Processors running at 20-24 Celsius average
Hotter than 85c? Most likely overheating.
How did ntune didn't help?
agreed. Sounds like it's overheating and it got cooked.
That or if you have a cut in your monitor.
Edit: when you go into black, do the lines turn red?
Yeah they were blue before and now they've turned red.
You sure knew what you were doing when overclocking?
if so, forget my question, sorry I even asked.
Have you tried changing the Refresh Rate? Probably not the issue though.
Tried updating your video drivers?
Tried changing everything back to default?
Tried hooking up the monitor to the onboard video card?
Tried changing the Monitor?

All but this.
well?
What are you waiting for...
if not that doesn't work I guess you fried your videocard...
Okay I've removed the video card and hooked it up to the integrated 6150SE and it's running perfectly fine. So now I'm just gonna have to make sure that I can do something about my card, otherwise I might just go get my old 8600 GTS and use that.
Okay now somethings up. Whenever I try to put it back in my machine and only just now turn on the computer, there's a series of beeping coming from I believe the card and my computer just doesn't start.
Are the beeps long or short?
How many beeps are there (or does it just repeat forever)?
What's your motherboard?
Beeeep [wait half a second] beep-beep
Wait about a second and a half then it does it again. And it just loops. Forever.
Hell if I know. The user manual or whatever is long gone and that would be one of the only way for me to check.
Boot your computer without the card and use something like Piriform Speccy to find what motherboard you have.
If you have a retail motherboard (e.g. Not using a prebuilt PC), it may say the motherboard model on the splash screen.
Okay, I think it's best to update the OP. Adding everything including motherboard.
Awesome dad bought me a new 9800 GT because he is awesome. Case closed.
It's also the new 9800 that uses 30% less energy so no more overheating >:3
why didn't you just upgrade your card, there isn't much point buying the same card when it's this old and there have been better options for ages anyway

Keep this in mind the next time that happens.
That "beep code" points to the VGA (Video Device) being defective.
You forgot to plug the Power cable into your vga card.
Meh, Have fun with ya 9800gt
