after getting a new Sapphire 7950 i have a problem that seems to happen totally randomly: occasionally after the computer has been off for a while, i will get no display when i boot it up with no beeps or lights or anything. i have to reseat everything and it usually works, but this time it didn't. here are my computer's specs:
here are my specs:
AMD Phenom II X4 965(3.4GHz)
6 GB RAM
Xion 00W PSW
Sapphire Radeon HD 7950
Hitachi 500 GB HDD
ASUS M4A77TD AMD Motherboard
i've tried booting with one stick of RAM, i've confirmed it's not a monitor issue, everything is running, there is just no display.
No beep isn't good. One beep means everything's ok, multiple beeps notify of a problem. If you're not getting any beep, the motherboard could be on its way out
i built the computer in 2010 so it's possible. but i thought it might be a GPU problem because this only started once i got the new GPU..?
Well it should beep without the GPU, so if you think the GPU is the culprit, try removing it then start the computer. If you still get no beep then it's not the GPU
it just booted up now, but i'm still going to try that later because i'm fairly certain it'll happen again
Update your bios, it could simply be a bug in your motherboard firmware. Otherwise a device could be causing it to hang on POST, try what djjkxbox360 said and temporarily remove parts that could be causing the problem.
Your CPU could be the problem also, check its temps and make sure it's not damaged at all.
