The Conservatives will try to lift the fox hunting ban if the party wins May's general election.
The party will offer a free vote in the next Parliament to legalise hunting if the party wins in May, The Telegraph can disclose.
The news has emerged on Boxing Day, traditionally the biggest day of the hunting calendar when thousands of supporters turn out to watch their local hunts.
The party's manifesto is set to say that the Hunting Act is wrong-headed and a future Tory government would try to repeal it.

The Hunting Act 2004, which prohibits the pursuit with hounds of various wild mammals in England and Wales, came into force under Labour in February 2005. The pursuit of foxes with hounds was banned in Scotland in 2003.
Fox hunting is an embarrassing practice that couldn't have been banned sooner.
breaking news: the conservative party will not win the 2015 general election
Good, it was banned by a bunch of Labour MPs who all came from city constituencies who didn't actually represent anyone which the ban affected. If people want to hunt foxes with dogs then why not?

Fox hunting isn't even a sport.
It consists of a bunch of people in skintight clothes riding horses, following a pack of dogs that are chasing a fox. Upon being captured, the fox is then torn apart by the dogs.
We banned this practice a decade ago. Why should we waste time reintroducing it?

because it's fucking cruel. It's not even hunting, it's literally just getting a pack of dogs to tear a fox to pieces while the "hunters" ride along on horses chuckling to themselves and fucking watching the animal get mauled to death
-snip
Just forget what i just said, i didnt mean i support it.
The anti-Fox hunt supporters are strong in this page.........
why would you be any other way lol
The anti-Fox hunt supporters are strong in this page.........
From what I can tell, hunting in the UK is different then in murica
if the average american was going to hunt a fox they'd just shoot it, but apparently fox hunting to some people in the UK is watching the poor thing get mauled to death
The anti-Fox hunt supporters are strong in this page.........
Say what you like, but fox hunting is literally people taking pleasure from causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.
There are many other ways to control fox populations, the "traditional" method is obsolete and barbaric anyways.
because it's fucking cruel. It's not even hunting, it's literally just getting a pack of dogs to tear a fox to pieces while the "hunters" ride along on horses chuckling to themselves and fucking watching the animal get mauled to death
To each his own, Just because you don't like fox hunting doesn't mean that you shouldn't allow others like it, especially when foxes can be pests in some areas. The foxes were still going to be hunted anyway, what difference does it make whether dogs are involved or not?
A casual observer might get the impression that the only thing you do is vehemently defend every single thing that the Tories have ever done.
Only because everyone else here hates them no matter what they do.

I take it you enjoy animals suffering
The foxes were still going to be hunted anyway, what difference does it make whether dogs are involved or not?
dogs aren't known for quick painless kills.

"Well, just because you don't like _______, doesn't mean you shouldn't allow others to like it"
can be applied to literally anything. Well, I'm a big fan of heroin, why is it illegal? I also like torturing animals for my own amusement, why is that illegal? Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean I can't like it, does it?
So you're basically defending them because other people don't like them. Solid logic there, mate. I eagerly anticipate your support for the BNP next year.

yeah man I totally agree!!!! if the fox population has to be kept down why should it matter whether they're mauled to death by a pack of fucking dogs or put down using literally any one of the multiple humane ways we have at our disposal other than making them get mauled to death by dogs because it's not like getting mauled to death causes untold amounts of unnecessary suffering or anything like that?
you're an idiot

This was quite popular, and used to be done with "pests". Why advocate for fox hunting when fox tossing is banned? They achieve the same goal in the end do they not?
because it's fucking cruel. It's not even hunting, it's literally just getting a pack of dogs to tear a fox to pieces while the "hunters" ride along on horses chuckling to themselves and fucking watching the animal get mauled to death
That's exactly what hunting was for the aristocratic part of Europe since ever
That's exactly what hunting was for the aristocratic part of Europe since ever
so what lol
"Well, just because you don't like _______, doesn't mean you shouldn't allow others to like it"

Not the same thing, even slightly. Legalising drugs such as heroin would have a catastrophic effect on society and would give the impression that such things were ok. Allow Fox hunting with dogs, the only consequence on society being that people can hunt with dogs.

So I'm defending individual freedom and free expression and I'm the one whose fascist? Not only this but most people here dogmatically hate anything remotely on the right, all I'm doing is playing devil's advocate and actually acknowledging that the Conservatives have actually done good things.
I don't even understand how fox hunting is called hunting, you set a pack of dogs on a fox, chase the pack on horseback and watch it get torn apart. No guns, no actual hunting, come over to america we'll show you how to hunt
its 2014
this is... awkward
I wouldn't even call this barbaric nonsense hunting.

Because shooting a fox with a gun generally kills it, tormenting a fox is cruel
Good, it was banned by a bunch of Labour MPs who all came from city constituencies who didn't actually represent anyone which the ban affected. If people want to hunt foxes with dogs then why not?
hunting foxes != horrific and brutal torture of foxes
regardless of how much of a pest foxes can be, what was done a decade ago was not ethical
Because shooting a fox with a gun generally kills it, tormenting a fox is cruel
I'm referring to the British practice.
I understand shooting the fox, but making a big ritualized thing over having packs of dogs tear them apart is just overboard.
Why is it ok to give the impression that mauling animals for whatever reason is a great idea?
Because for the most part, no-one actually cares and it doesn't have a big impact on society, at least not anywhere near the impact that legalisation of Class A drugs would have.
I'm referring to the British practice.

Ya I'm in agreement with you, hunting them as pests with guns is generally humane, but tearing them apart by hounds for fun is cruelty
Because for the most part, no-one actually cares
wow you're stupid if you honestly believe that noone cares about the suffering of an animal
Not the same thing, even slightly. Legalising drugs such as heroin would have a catastrophic effect on society and would give the impression that such things were ok. Allow Fox hunting with dogs, the only consequence on society being that people can hunt with dogs.

Conservatives do a good job of governing, in my opinion, but what annoys me is that they slide in pieces of legislation like this in from time to time.
It's literally legalising animal bloodsport.
Fox Hunting isn't hunting, it's just animal bloodsport, it's entertainment and that's it.
and I'm not some tumblrfaggot.
There's just no defending it, don't even try, you just make yourself look stupid. You can still think the conservatives are decent while condemning retarded bills like this.
