• Activision made a fuckton of money over the "stimulus package" for MW2
Microsoft has announced that the Stimulus Package for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was downloaded over one million times in the first 24 hours. It also surpassed the 2.5 million mark within the first week. According to the PR, MW2 players have also invested more than 1.75 billion hours of gameplay on XBL since November, which equals more than 200,000 years of playing the game. Looks like a lot of folks agreed with Robert Bowling on the 1,200 MS Point-price of the pack. If not, they downloaded it anyway. The map pack add-on is currently only available through Xbox 360. It’s expected to hit PC and PS3 next month.
http://www.vg247.com/2010/04/07/modern-warfare-2-stimulus-package-surpasses-2-5m-its-first-week/ So, at fifteen dollars a pop, Activision has made at least 37.5 million dollars in the first week of it being available. For three new maps, and two ported maps, which probably cost them chump change to develop. This is only including sales from the 360 version, and they will likely make roughly the same amount from the PC and PS3 version. I honestly wonder how far they can take this crap, but I'm getting the feeling they can get away with charging much more in the future.
I'm never paying $15 for some recycled maps.
The thing is, the average MW2 player doesn't give a shit. Activision will continue to receive mega amounts of money no matter what.
I like how the people who actually MADE the game get almost 0% of that.
I like how the people who actually MADE the game get almost 0% of that.
Actually they got fired :v:
Bad Company 2 Map DLC 1: $0 dollars Bad Company 2 Map DLC 2: $0 Dollars Dr. Pepper Code Redemption DLC: $1.75 Infinity Ward/Activision MW2 "Stimulus" Package DLC that includes 3 shitty new maps and 2 already in Call of Duty 4: $15.00 Ripping off your fanbase and turning your once good franchise into a pile of shit: Priceless For everything in life, there's a mastercard.
The thing is, the average MW2 player doesn't give a shit. Activision will continue to receive mega amounts of money no matter what.
Personally, I think they are going to make COD 7/8 subscription based. I wonder if other developers are going to pick up on this.
Why do you think it was called the Stimulus Pack?
Why do you think it was called the Stimulus Pack?
Haha this.
But the 5 maps totally add extra value to the game, and makes the best game ever even greater!
COD is activisions cash cow, and it's milking time
Kotick has a huge cunt so he wants it to fill it with $
Kotick has a huge cunt so he wants it to fill it with $
No, he Is a huge cunt.
Back in my day we didn't have all this fancy pancy DLC. You got everything when you bought it.
The thing is, the average MW2 player doesn't give a shit. Activision will continue to receive mega amounts of money no matter what.
Obviously since a million people downloaded it within the first week.
And this again proves to activision that they can do whatever they want, which will make them continue to produce shit and sell it for money.
3/4 days of work for 37.5 million... I think at least 2 will be released after this...
I can't believe I paid $60 for the game. 'Experiment' they say. Fucking bullshit. Greedy fucks. And I wish they'd get rid of the fucking hackers in the game too.
Activision's To Do List: 1) Fire all employees. 2) Hype up the release of a new game. 3) Re-release COD 4 maps for MW2 and sell for an overpriced amount. 4) Milk the cash cow dry. 5) Lick Kotick's ass. 6) Rinse and repeat.
It works.
Why can't we go back to the days of the original Modern Warefare
Why can't we go back to the days of the original Modern Warefare
Because it's now full of hacking russians?

Does anyone know where those fired Infinity Ward devs are going?
Does anyone know where those fired Infinity Ward devs are going?
Home, in their car, with a 5 o'clock shadow. Their tie is taken off, their shirt collar is uneven. A box of their office information lies on the seat next to them. They shed a tear for all that they worked for, and drive home to their wives.
That costs more MS points than Perfect Dark, which is infinity more fun than MW2.
I'll buy it if it's ever on sale for 5 bucks or less, but I will not buy 3 new maps for 3 times what they normally go for.

Yeah sucks about Infinity Ward CEOs but it seemed like they were talking to EA and other Publishers. And plus if this case goes through and they win, they will get loads of cash and it will give them the right to stop MW from being milked/or milked by them.
