• WaPo Fact Checker: Trump has made 1,057 False or Misleading Statements Since Inauguration
We have been tracking President Trump’s false or misleading claims for more than seven months. Somewhere around Aug. 4 or Aug. 5, he broke 1,000 claims, and the tally now stands at 1,057. (Our full interactive graphic can be found here.) That’s an impressive number by any standard. In fact, we are a little late with this update because we have simply been overwhelmed keeping track of the deluge of claims made by the president in the later part of July. Things slowed down during the president’s “working vacation,” so we have finally been able to catch up. At the president’s current pace, he averages nearly five claims a day. Many are repeats of claims that have been previously debunked. We also include statements that are unacknowledged flip-flops from previously held positions, such as touting new highs in a stock market that he previously derided as being a “big, fat bubble.” More than 30 of the president’s misleading statements have been repeated three or more times.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/fact-checker/wp/2017/08/22/president-trumps-list-of-false-and-misleading-claims-tops-1000/ Long story short, Trump has lied almost every single time he has publicly opened his mouth since becoming president. Can he break 2,000 lies before the end of his first year in office? Signs point to "Probably."
The top 2. [t]http://i.imgur.com/jQX9WPf.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/y5vVqa5.png[/t]
Too bad no one can call him out on it at a press conference because he'll just go "nuh uh, fake news, fake news" Jesus, I forgot what it's like having a real president who actually responds to questions like someone above a 4th grade level.
Too bad no one can call him out on it at a press conference because he'll just go "nuh uh, fake news, fake news"
And then we'll be up to 1,058 lies.
This shit is so hard to believe. The leader of what is supposed to be the free world in the age of information can't stop lying. If you were in literally any other job you would be fired instantly, but no, not the president for some reason. Would be nice if this manchild and his kidnergarden gang would be kicked out because of gross incompetence.
Can we get a comparison regarding where Obama and Bush JR were at the same point in each of their two terms?
WaPo has been insanely dedicated in their reporting against the President even before the election ended. I have to give them a hand for compiling this; it must have taken quite a long time.
Someone just yelled "has the president ever lied to us?" at the briefing :v:
WaPo has been insanely dedicated in their reporting against the President even before the election ended. I have to give them a hand for compiling this; it must have taken quite a long time.
Reporting the truth is what the media exists to do. They are only "against" the president because the truth is toxic to the fiction that he's trying to spin. Also don't think it's gone unnoticed that your reaction wasn't, "wow, my dear leader has lied to my face over a thousand times in less than a year," but rather, "the media is working so hard to make stories against my president."
What pisses me off the most is that there are no reprecussions for all his lies. He just keeps going. And his supporters just eat that shit up.
WaPo has been insanely dedicated in their reporting against the President even before the election ended. I have to give them a hand for compiling this; it must have taken quite a long time.
What a tactful way of voicing your distaste.

I apologize if my initial post isn't what you expected or desired, but I'm just impressed that anyone would go to the trouble of cataloguing and putting this all together. It's a refreshing surprise.
WaPo has been insanely dedicated in their reporting against the President even before the election ended. You've managed to completely skirt around the terrifying content and instead find a way to almost shame WaPo for compiling this. Keeping track of the honesty of our leader is important.

How come your president's compulsive lying does not concern you? I'd really appreciate a peek in your thought process how media scrutiny into a politician lying is negative but said politician lying is not.
In a shocking turn of events that surprised nobody, either because we've known since forever that trump is a pandering liar, or because people just refuse to admit it's not all a part of his grand master plan to save the america.
Reporting the truth is what the media exists to do. They are only "against" the president because the truth is toxic to the fiction that he's trying to spin.
No. Getting ratings and views is what the media exists to do. I can't let such a naive position be spoken so brazenly because the media is perfectly capable of lying to you and it always has been, especially when it comes down to the bottom line. This really has no bearing on this news article but I think it's important to have a more toned down relationship with our news outlets.

Of course our journalists are more active in defending it.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/jQX9WPf.png[/t]
You think it's funny now but wait until Trump becomes our only weapon against artificial intelligence when the machines take over, his statements are proven to reduce intelligence quotients by over 300 points.

Fair, I agree regarding this news article. But you were referring to the media, not WaPo specifically. Even so, they still do not solely exist to report the truth. There is no benefit in blindly giving media a pass by defining it in such a way.

There exists within it countless players, all of whom may have their own motivations and ethical guidelines (or lack thereof). Research your sources, choose who to trust based on their track record. Washington Post has a mild liberal bias, yes, but they also have an excellent track record of honesty and integrity. They are a respectable and trustworthy source of information, and their chief concern is the propagation of the truth. They are not at odds with the Trump administration because the Trump administration is conservative, but because it is dishonest and underhanded. Trump utilizes lies, propaganda, and misinformation to convince a gullible public towards heinous thought and action in the name of political expediency, and wages personal and political warfare against the journalistic entities that refuse to uphold his deceptive narrative. It's got nothing to with political belief, and everything to do with honesty and integrity. WaPo can and has been critical of left wing figures for pulling this kind of shit, too (especially, and justifiably, Hillary Clinton). Although, nobody has posed as colossal a threat on this front as Donald Trump.
WaPo has been insanely dedicated in their reporting against the President even before the election ended. I have to give them a hand for compiling this; it must have taken quite a long time.
Am I retarded for thinking that this was an actual compliment? Considering the amount of blatant bullshit the Dorito spews I was genuinely surprised someone had managed to keep track of it all. Props to the journalists.
Agreed, we're on the same page here. I was being pedantic but I felt it was important. They feel a lot more personally detatched than say, CNN. That's just my opinion though.
Trump utilizes lies, propaganda, and misinformation to convince a gullible public towards heinous thought and action in the name of political expediency, and wages personal and political warfare against the journalistic entities that refuse to uphold his deceptive narrative.
There is no doubt that Trump and the media dislike each other, but I really don't feel much sympathy for the media. They did such a shit job covering the election that I really feel like they also played a part in his voterbase growing.
I agree, though I would say that this and other outlets appear to have been doing a much more thorough job at "reporting the truth" than in the past; maybe that's a cause for intrigue, maybe not, I'm not particularly concerned so long as they keep at it. It's a refreshing surprise.
This is whataboutism. "How come the media didn't give [previous president] such a hard time???" is just trying to change the conversation to media bias and deflect away from the staggering reality being shown to you. Your president is lying at an astounding rate.
"Telling it like it is", aka "Simplification to the point of constant lying in order to make your sloth, greed, and malice feel appealing".
When can we get rid of him? This is inexcusable.
"Telling it like it is", aka "Simplification to the point of constant lying in order to make your sloth, greed, and malice feel appealing".
It doesn't really feel all that simple if some supporter has to pop up and explain what he means. He speaks so vague and casually that there's often 2 or 3 ways to interpret what he's saying. [editline]24th August 2017[/editline] Then he contradicts himself the next day and the process begins again.
"Telling it like it is", aka "Simplification to the point of constant lying in order to make your sloth, greed, and malice feel appealing".
I'm kinda curious how "constantly lying every time he opens his mouth" somehow equates to "telling it like it is" anyways. Maybe I'm just misunderstanding the words somehow but from my point of view "telling it like it is" implies telling it exactly like it actually is. Aka telling the truth.
