• Off-Road with a hybrid experience (It's stuck)

So we got a Hybrid "Suv" since they where absolutely sure (The car dealer) that it was like a real Suv after the complete review we decided to go off-road, and after 30 minutes of looking through the manual to find out on how to setup the car (Diff-lock, Extreme Off-road mode, Make the ride higher) it got stuck, really stuck.Since it goes on electricity until 50km/h and there is no real way of disabling the "Hybrid" part it's a pain to get out. So yeah anyone got some tips how to get this out? (Posting on my laptop) We did find some wood here and a shovel so were trying something.Oh yeah and I learned something, a Hybrid "Suv" doesn't I repeat DOESN'T work off-road at all in any way shape or form, even if the manual / dealer says it does! So here my tip, if anyone EVER asks you to go off-road first check if it isn't a hybrid, if it is: Run for your life.Pica's:
CR-v laughs at you [editline]25th July 2011[/editline] also, leave it there and get a real SUV
Brave soul [editline]25th July 2011[/editline] I swear we will mourn your loss
So any tips to get this out? I can't seem to format the post properly because... well i dont know why.
big bungee rope another real 4x4 that is heavy. ????? profit edit: whoever rated me dumb never did any offroading and never watched top gear north pole special
The Non-Hybrid Touareg is a great offroader, but anyways, you tried shimmying the wood under the tires and lightly gassing it?
get somone with some 4x4 experience to pull you out its complicated to do your self and i assume you forgot rope and shovels and water and anything
So we tried to get it out for about ~2 hours now (this happened a bit before i made this post) with shovels and wooden planks, the car is just completely stuck. There are some local guys that are working on a golf-field they have some cranes and they want to help us out! :) Oh yeah we also called volkswagen lemme "simulate" how to conversation was. Me "Uhh yeah we have a problem" VW "What is it?" Me "Your car, it is stuck in the mud. It isn't really good at off-road" VW "Really? Is it just a little stuck" Me "No, it's completely stuck and we are trying to get it out" VW "Hmm well you can have the car for 1 day extra! Good luck getting it out!" Me -,- [editline]25th July 2011[/editline] We got some help !!!
wait are you like reviewing it or is it a loaner or something?
Hmm can't reply... We where reviewing it, they said that we should try it offroad since it should work like a real SUV. It didn't.
>listened to a german auto maker about how great their car is I think I see the problem. [editline]25th July 2011[/editline] Only thing you can do is grab a tractor or a real 4x4 and yank it out, it's not going to come out under it's own power.
lol, sucks man
big bungee rope another real 4x4 that is heavy. ????? profit edit: whoever rated me dumb never did any offroading and never watched top gear north pole special
I have a feeling you only watched the Top Gear episode and have no offroad experience either. Bungee rope? :what:
lol, sucks man
garry banned doucheland for 7 Days in Where are all the girls at? with the reason “Great thread” lol, sucks man
The big crane got us out without any problems, the crane drive also had a good laugh. Ill post a video tomorrow if the part where he's towing us out.
Vw... don't get me started. Were the tires as bald as they look, though??
Vw... don't get me started. Were the tires as bald as they look, though??
I think its just that they are caked in mud. Anyhow, I don't think that would do so well in that deep of mud regardless of hybrid status.
German manufactures know 90% of the buyers of their SUV's are stupid American soccer moms. All they want is something big with AWD because they're too afraid (or lack the driving ability) to drive a sedan to go pick up groceries. The result is a cheap SUV that is slightly bigger than a sedan, has AWD, and sells well because soccer moms aren't exactly experts when it comes to off-roading.
They should have added off-road tires to it.

This is a 4x4 built for offroading this is an AWD hybrid with "offroad capabilities" :read the capabilities to go over moderately loose gravel: Made for these people to get groceries and transport multiple spawn Do you see the difference?
Reminds me of the time I tried offroading in my old datsun crunch crunch crunch scrape
Vw... don't get me started. Were the tires as bald as they look, though??
Don't get me started.
Don't get me started.
So are you going to blindly defend VW and it's half-baked SUV?
Can you defend VWs chinsey dashs that explode when you take the radio out of them, or the clips that hold the door panels in that break every single time lol? New VWs are nice, but the interior pieces need a big redesign for quality. Same thing goes for Jaguar and Audi. And '90s Mercedes. Euros like to design scary bits I think

That's where the quality went.
So are you going to blindly defend VW and it's half-baked SUV?
No, I'm going to lambast Volkswagen for their declining quality and lack of any sort of vision. [editline]26th July 2011[/editline] Example: I love Rocky Patel cigars. They've always be exceptionally full flavored and smooth. However, their newest, the 1961 (Which was produced in their own factory for the first time), wasn't good. It was bland and mediocre all the way through. I'm not going to defend things just because of brand loyalty.
I'd like to point out that you took a vehicle with highway-terrain tyres into mud. If it was fitted with all-terrains, you'd have faired a bit better. If you had mud-terrains, even better. I doubt you could get mud-terrains with a low enough profile to fit those rims though. [editline]27th July 2011[/editline] Also yeah, hybrids suck.
Tires make or break offroad ability if you've got the basics already [editline]27th July 2011[/editline] Also having it NOT be an electric p.o.s.
Should've got the diesel. Great fuel economy and plenty of torque to go around.
