Well I don't mind if the wife agrees with the guy's decision but what the fuck is this shit :v: How could anyone think it's a good idea to just allow married men(or women but that's like non-existant) to marry whoever they want without having them consult their current spouse.

Polygamy should be legal but when it comes to developing countries we have the problem of traditional values. Instead of it just being people having multiple partners, we have men just trying to hoard women to raise their personal prestige.

Things fall apart taught me that when you give African men multiple wives, they end up beating them all aggressively and often. It's considered the pinnacle of African literature.

I've always had a theory that the main reason that some men insist on making women second class citizens is that those men are desperate to feel powerful, since they feel powerless in their daily lives. So by making the women in their lives take a lesser position, they are now at least the boss in their home. They have power somewhere, somehow, even if the in the larger sense they are nobody with no power. This story fits that theory. What could make the average Kenyan man feel more powerful than forcing his wife to accept another woman in the home...then another, and another?

Concubines went out with the vikings and the only noticeable challenge to monogamy from within western civilization since then came from a religion founded in the western United States less than 200 years ago.
