Is this game any good..? It kind of looks like Dungeon Defenders: Orcs Must Die Edition. Which personally that sound's fucking amazing.
Is this game any good..? It kind of looks like Dungeon Defenders: Orcs Must Die Edition. I love the Orcs Must Die franchise for the stellar singleplayer and co-op experience, I don't think anyone asked for a PVP game and I would've much prefered a proper Orcs Must Die 3. I've played a little bit of it before it got on Steam, and it's okay if you're into these kind of games. It's extremely MOBA-like compared to the other games, and has a similar free to play model to them too. There's the free rotation of characters, and then there's skins and characters you have to buy either with free currency or real life money. As you can see on the Steam page, it has nearly 80 dollars worth of purchasable content. The main difference it has from other games like Smite or Paragon is that you can build traps in your defense lane, and influence what minions/units go down your attack lane. That concept in itself is really cool and makes it stand out, but I honestly don't think this game is going to do very well because of the comparisons people will continue to make. Also did I mention that the 80 dollars worth of purchasable content consists of 3 different packs, all in which have different contents in them? The Classic Pack gets you Max and Gabby from Orcs Must Die 2. The Action Hero Pack, which is 20 dollars, gets you 3 different characters that are not Max and Gabby. And the Ultimate Pack, which is 50 dollars, does not give you everything but instead gives you 5 different characters that are not in the other packs. That means that there's no way to get everything in one package, which means to get everything you have to spend nearly 80 dollars. That's incredibly ballsy for a game that probably stands no chance of survival to begin with. All of these packs come with other things like consumables and traps too, but I'm mainly using characters as comparison here.
I can't agree or deny the rest of the post because I've only played the game a bit, but there is a whole survival tab with PvE modes, and there have has a whole unique section of items, perks and stuff that only works in PvE, plus PvE only maps so it's not right to say that there is only a focus on PvP. The game was entirelly reworke twice so unless you tried it recently again you might need to try it again to see how different it is from what you remember.
I'm gunna give quick backstory: I loved Super Monday Night Combat when it was out, and when it died I was heartbroken. This game looked like it could have been a spiritual successor, so I foolishly hopped on and bought one of the founder packs. When I bought said founder pack, both the US and EU versions of the website looked exactly the same and had no notifications at all of which version they were, so I ended up unknowingly buying a EU version of the game. I tried to get a refund or at least get the account moved from EU to US, but they refused to do either. So this could be an amazing game now for all I know, but I'm gunna say Fuck these devs because they're fucking assholes.

That isn't a problem in the original games where all you have to do is progress through the story in order to unlock everything you could ever want. PvE also throws "heroes" at you which are basically bots of players, and they're basically braindead. It's nothing like the actual games. Sure it might be fun to mess around in a bit with friends, but it's not what the game is about.
