This is for my brother. He wants to be able to play Runescape and possible World of Warcraft (seems to be an on/off thing). Monitor and mouse are already taken care of. Windows 7 and a wireless keyboard would be nice. And if the mobo would fit in an Antec 900, that'd be taken care of.
Thanks for any help!
I don't know anything about building comps but i'm pretty sure you can run runescape with a shitty computer :v:
I know, but it's World of Warcraft that becomes the problem.
You already have an Antec 900? You only need a small, quiet case if playing WoW is the most demanding factor.
US right?
I'll try building one later tonight since my last (and first) build was around the same price range.
Yeah, US. And I already have the case. That's when I learned about HP's 'BTX' form factor.
You don't really need that much powers for WoW and runescape.
He could just get a decent laptop, and have fun of it's portability.

Yeah, saving up a little bit more to get a decent laptop is a good option.
However, go with a desktop if he wants to play more demanding games in the future.
I'll make it after dinner :taco:

I'm not so sure about the RAM, so can someone else give me feedback?
I would suggest saving up another $50 or so for a better card and processor.
Also, can you salvage any parts from other computers? Like a hard drive or optical drive?
That's overkill for WOW, actually.
Thats about as good as you can get with that budget. Should run WOW fine (I'd be moar worried about monthly payments)
Also, AIM is spying on your browsing history :ninja:

I've never played WOW. Doesn't it need a decent build? Or is it really just those WOW addicts getting the best computers for a low spec game?
Edited:
Nevermind, just checked the specs.
Get a laptop or the new build I will put together later.
It doesn't need that much, but I think a desktop would be more useful for him.
You don't need Windows 7 Ultimate.

I have the same ram in one of my systems. It's nice, but it's definitely overkill for a WoW rig

Hard drive no, but I can do an optical drive. Thanks a lot. Once you're done, can you post a link to the list?

I'll try right now.
Here you go (couldn't find a good keyboard because I don't know anything about them :frown:)

Not sure about the quality of board. It looks good though, specs that is, but I'm not sure about the brand. Any suggestions?
Replace that ecs with this asrock. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157176&cm_re=asrock_am3-_-13-157-176-_-Product
My brother and I decided to pay for this half and half. Instead of the 4670, I added a 4770. Is that a good choice? And does anyone have any opinions on this monitor? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009226

Actually, I added the processor twice! There's more area for a better video card now. So with a budget of around $138, what would you guys recommend?
Don't know much about monitors, but for a graphics card, get the 5770. 24 hours special today, you can get it for 143 + free shipping.

Sorry, I failed. I forgot to add Windows :emo:. I think we might push the budget to $600 to include to monitor. The current one is a piece of crap.

What's wrong with the monitor?
If you get a 5770 then upgrade the PSU to something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139003&Tpk=corsair%20450%20vx
The one I have. It's a small non-widescreen. It's like a flat CRT (as in same screen width/height).
