In the no-man’s land between Serbia and Croatia was declared the smallest “independent sovereign state” in the Balkans, spreading across seven square kilometers.
It is “Liberland”, to which its “president”, Czech Vit Jedlicka, invites all who respect the principle “live and let live”, and are not extremists.
Liberland lies on the banks of the Danube between Backi Monostor and Zmajevac. Jedlicka claims that “the state” was created entirely in accordance with international law because it is based on the no-man’s land which was not claimed either by Serbia or Croatia in the process of demarcation.
You can even apply for citizenship now !

Oh man Laibach is gonna love this.
There is no "no-man's land".
We solved our disputes with Serbia a long time ago.
And we have experience with quelling any attempts of establishing an "independent" state which was created in accordance with "international law"
Sorry mate, you can bugger off and go found your little cesspit someplace else.
I like how on their forums there's a thread asking about guns.
Jedlička accepts requests to citizenship, and according to the official website, only communists, neonazis, and extremists are not eligible for the citizenship.[5]
Here I come.
Everyone from Facepunch move there so we can declare the sovereign nation of Garry.

There must be 1000s of us. If it were a democracy we would be sure to win a majority.

Apparently Croatia have this but says it belongs to Serbia but Serbia haven't claimed the area.

Not sure how true it is however.
We did what
that was sudden
We should be careful who we let to our beaches this summer. Don't want all those Czechs that come here try to rebel and annex our coast.
Škodas for everyone.

Isn't that Bosnia?

Chech navy to become a reality
They are planning to include direct democracy, interesting.
Shit, now President Barbie has a reason to conscript people again.
I'm tempted to apply for citizenship just for the hell of it. But I'm not at all intimate with the US view on dual citizenship.
I shall become the first president
Let's hope Jedlička won't be stealing any pens or something like that
Fuck, my country does not allow dual citizenship
Is there a permanent resident I can apply
So how would dual-citizenship work as an American, anyways? I'm genuinely kind of curious about applying for shits and giggles, but if I could go over there and help them build, I dunno, fences or something for a summer that might actually be pretty cool.
You could claim you helped build a nation!

It's not recognized by any important entity yet, and if the US doesn't recognize it then you can't get dual citizenship I believe. It's would be the legal equivalent of me granting you citizenship status to the country I just founded in my bathroom.
I actually just submitted a thread to their English forum, I'm sort of really hoping that they actually read it for their own damn safety.
I can picture this thing starting as a Libertarian "paradise" and ending in disaster.

People are actually suggesting bitcoin as the national currency on the forums.
As a small nation, geologically, a universal building code should be a fairly simple matter, and the International Building Code would qualify as the best candidate for setting the standards for such a new nation.
Not to burst your bubble but this is a purely liberal society, the government is pretty powerless to enforce this kind of stuff. The market should hopefully regulate itself in that regard. The literature you linked is still useful for someone who wanted to start a construction business in Liberland.

Considering that being the country they are they probably won't manage to establish a central bank, using a concurrency instead doesn't seem like a bad idea
although it would probably be better to choose a more stable one then bitcoin
Well, looks like it's time for another Yugoslav war.
