A tragic accident has claimed the life of an Egyptian window cleaner at Tripoli’s Corinthia Hotel. He died after his gondola came crashing down from the 11th floor onto the roof of the hotel foyer.
The 34 year-old man, named only as “F.A.” was apparently still alive after the accident which happened on Sunday. Guests have reported that it took some 40 minutes for him to be rescued.
The Old Town police station has filed a report to say that the man, reported as a member of the hotel’s cleaning staff, was pronounced dead before he arrived at Tripoli Medical Centre on Sunday.
Poor man.
Did it really took them 40 min to rescue him ? Damn...
Forty minutes?!?! What, were the first responders standing around like a sphinx or something? What the hell, if he survived an 11 story fall that probably means the gondola wasn't in freefall, but being dragged by the ropes(a slower drop). This may have been survivable with quick treatment.
Nooooooooooooooooooooo that must have been the worst feeling in the world.
willis/sears tower uses robotic window cleaners... so it's good to know this won't happen

It doesn't look like he fell to an easily accessible place.
This is literally near the top of my list of one of my worst fears. Jesus....may that man rest in peace.

They didn't rescue him, he died.
Anyone else think Venice by the title?
Then I got an Image of a large set of ladders being set on a gently wobbling water gondola and a guy at the top of said ladders whistling jauntily.
I always worry for these dudes on these flimsy looking metal plates with a single bar to keep them in held up by ropes swinging to the sides that are constructing the dorms on my campus. I couldn't work as a window cleaner- no manner how much I was reassured I just wouldn't trust the safety of it.

He was rescued and THEN he died. Read please.
That's really sad.
Hard to reach area, you'd probably need a ladder company, and I'm not sure if TFD is really that well put together.
That would suck so goddamn hard, falling that far and dying shortly after. Plus, he was probably busting his ass at his job.
I say that because I noticed how clean the windows are. :(
