Interesting article about how a Japanese scientist has designed high quality Human Android robots. Very Realistic

Which is the woman and which is the machine?

The one on the right is the machine obviously. Sorry but androids aren't quite there yet.
Can they be fucked yet?

It's close enough though. The only reason you can easily figure out which one's real is because of the tiny imperfections in the skin and the slightly weidr skin colour.

And the face shape around the mouth, there is something very inorganic about it which makes it easy to tell.
Kinda creepy tbh, I don't want emotionless humans walking around, then again I don't want anything artificial with emotions, call me paranoid if you want, that shizzle ain't reassuring
just make robot-looking robots useful for something instead of humanly realistic robots

From a distance now it would be hard to tell the difference. They are getting there....
Can they be fucked yet?
this is the most imported question
I have never seen something so terrifying and awesome at the same time.
Not a bad job. Those androids look very approachable.
also the 'empty glove syndrome' going on with the hands

More of, the left woman has her visibly comfortably folded in her lap, while on the right side they are held in the air unnaturally (because making them fold limply would be nigh impossible with the tech they work with). It's a step servo vs pully muscle thing.

I require sustenance.
I must feed.

Bigots like you are the reason robots end up revolting against organics in sci-fi.
I, for one, will welcome the robots into my home and my life
I'd be way more comfortable interacting with a robot that just looks like a robot. Even if they get it perfect, it's still going to be unsettling if you know it's not a person.

And you can also easily figure out once the android starts moving or doing anything other than being still. Still impressive though, can't wait to see androids in 20-30 years though, I imagine they would be a huge step up from what has been seen right now.
Sort of makes me wonder when we will actually see complex artificial life, or possibly even "post-human" artificial life.
If you think about it, artificial life has a lot more potential to become more intelligent and more physically resilient than organic life. Assuming the field of robotics continues indefinitely, uninterrupted, the purpose and ultimate "destiny" of the human species might prove be to usher in the creation of a functionally superior form of completely synthetic life.
Organic lifeforms made of carbon and water are capable of starting from almost nothing but the base components, and evolving into complex forms, something which non-organic life is not capable of doing on it's own. But once true* self-aware, complex synthetic life is created from the ground up, it may be capable of simply self-replicating and striking out on its own in the universe with almost no boundaries or limitations, due to its resilience and customized-evolutionary nature. Computers, Robots and the like are far too complex to come about on their own, but once they are already created there's really not a whole lot they can't do by themselves, at least in the hypothetical (maybe not in practice today)
It's scary to think the hypothetical moral lessons you see in shit like Blade Runner may actually need to become a real concept in the future, assuming once again that the robotics industry continues without material or economic delay.
I don't care if it's in a walking talking android or not...
I just really want a functional A.I. system what that learns and has emotions
that shit would be a titanic milestone for humanity
I hope we end up seeing some Aliens-style androids, with the white blood and beads for organs.

It can also be very dangerous, and really begs the question, if a machine can really feel emotions and can truly be self aware then it really begs the question; Does it then deserve to be respected? Does it then deserve the right to live? (or to exist in this case)
also it reminds me of this video:

Oh god the video in that article, I fucking lost my shit at 0:08

If we create a sentient machine, it deserves every right granted to us.
And unlike that video the human race will give it to them when it eventually happens.

well, dogs, cats, horses, and just about any other animal don't have nearly the same capacity that humans do but we care for them set up ways to protect them from harm and generally on the whole, humans are a very loving species.
But i also think it depends on how fast stuff like this gets introduced to the general population factors in it's response, for instance if one day everything went from no robots to bam, full robots walking around doing human stuff then yes, the public are VERY likely to have a fucking riot, but if it was steadily introduced to us, say.. some kind of wrist mounted device not unkile siri then moved up into the workplace to ease is, and then finally after many years as full robotic androids i'm sure we'd be living in a world like the one in Irobot. where it just became a normal part of life.
Grass grows, sun shines, birds sing and my god damn robot mail man is late again.
Besides, that video is hyper dramatised version on what ONE person thinks would happen.
i'm positive if you asked the population in both western and eastern places they would fucking JUMP at the chance of a A.I. helping them round the house, like... a good 90%

Is it kinda of a gamble whether we become really lazy or just gain more time for other things?
Is it kinda of a gamble whether we become really lazy or just gain more time for other things?
Humans are way too varied, 3 people 6 opinions and all that shit.
You could actually ask that now, has the car left us lazy?
has the phone?
the internet?

I could argue about that the internet as brought a lot of people down, I can say it varies between the two others.

Nope! Because we always find menial labor that doesn't necessarily have to be done by humans, but can be to put people in jobs. *cough Data Entry cough cough*
