I wanted to get the XFX HD 4890 .. but i read that it reqs. a lot power .
So i looked into some forums and they said: For a AMD Athlon 64 X2 is a HD 5670 really good.
I have a 450 W PSU ( Xilence Power 450 W specs: +3.3V: 30A • +5V: 29A • +12V1: 14A • +12V2: 15A • -12V: 0,8A • +5Vsb: 2A )
This review says
http://www.guru3d.com/article/his-radeon-hd-5670-iceq-review/5
"The card requires you to have a 450 Watt power supply unit at minimum if you use it in a high-end system. That power supply needs to have (in total accumulated) at least 35~40 Amps available on the +12 volts rails"
So i guess that means i cant run the card ?
I dont get it :/
Thanks for the help
What are the specs of the rest of your system?
Also, the PSU might prove OK, depending on the particular card you bought.
My system:
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+
MB: MSI K9N Neo F V2/V3
RAM: 3 GB RAM (1x 2gb (pc 6400) , 1x 1Gb (pc 5300)
GPU: MSI Nvidia Geforce 8500GT
HDD: Seagate somethin 250 GB
I did not buy the card yet, im thinking of to buy it
I'd go for a CPU upgrade soon; that 4200+ is pretty long in the tooth and will end up bottlenecking many newer cards.
I am ok with it.
I just need a new gpu
Your CPU is holding you back big time.
Get a 5770.

No, not really.
Get a 5770@OP

Hivemind.
I'd still get a CPU upgrade before getting a 5770 if I was OP.
get whole new computer. old bios and no update will probably not support newer cpus. old slow pci-e slot aswell. do not upgrade.
PCI-E x16 2.0 offers no improvement over PCI-E x16 1.1 except for high-end cards.
Don't get a 5670 OP. They're not even worth it.
I was just asking if it would work with my psu ...
so its a yes or no ?
PCI-E x16 2.0 offers no improvement over PCI-E x16 1.1 except for high-end cards.
true. but it's still not worth upgrading to a 5 series card, unless it's a lower tier card. 5770 at the most but his cpu would still bottleneck the crap out of it
Yeah, that's what I advocated above.

if you agree that it would be bottlenecked and that upgrading the cpu would be pouring money into an old rare product that his bios may not be ready for anyway... then you should suggest getting a new computer all together.
MY MB does not support cpus over 5800+ !
And also my cpu is fine ...
Do you guys think i shit money ? I have 150 bucks only
so would the 5670 work with my psu ?

Yes, but I recommend getting 5770/5750
higher number doesn't mean its better
Dude that CPU is fine for now, what he needs to do is get rid of that smelly old 8600GT. My old 8600 couldn't max HL2 without dipping below 30.
8500gt*
new cpu and gpu
problem solved
Get a 4670 for now, upgrade your CPU later.

A "new" CPU in an older socket like that isn't that much of an investment.

On a core 2 duo 2.2 ghz+512 MB *desktop version 8600 gt** HL2 runs in the 100-200s for me... *maxed*
