The United States will switch course on climate change and will pull the country out of a global pact to cut emissions, said Myron Ebell, who headed U.S. President Donald Trump's Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) transition team until his inauguration
Reuters :suicide:
never even fucking dreamed that id see the day that china would become better than the US at not fucking the planet up
Christ it's like he's trying to do as much as possible to fuck over the world in the shortest time
You got my hopes up with the title, thought maybe Trump was wising up to the idea of climate change. Turns out its even worse
Trump and the GOP's denial of climate change alone makes them unfit to be in public office, in my opinion. One really wishes they could be legally removed from office and disarmed sooner than two years.
he's not even been in office for two weeks and has already fucked things up massively. who'da thunkit
he's not even been in office for two weeks and has already fucked things up massively. who'da thunkit
Not his diehard supporters, to them he's "getting shit done." Ugh.
No surprises here coming from the man who doesn't care for regulations and thinks clean coal is a real thing.
We're screwed
Jesus Christ, my worst fucking nightmare is becoming a reality. We were so fucking close to making real progress towards improving our enviornment on a collaborative global scale, but now Republicans are going to ruin decades of progress like the greedy, petulant cunts they are. Fuck Trump, fuck the GOP, and fuck every ignorant piece of trash who voted them into power.
No surprises here coming from the man who doesn't care for regulations and thinks clean coal is a real thing.
Ok can I say this, fuck whoever made this term, all it has done is lead idiots to believe this is an actual thing that magically removes carbon emissions, all it in reality is are technologies that reduce emissions, not 100% get rid of them. Whenever I bring this up, apparently I'm reciting lies because "why would they call it clean coal then?" :scream:
We can just use Carl Sagan's spinning coffin to harness clean energy.
Can't wait until the end of February, actually curious what shit he'll say next month.
Can't wait until the end of February, actually curious what shit he'll say next month.
If this idiot manages to eke out his entire term I fully expect him to let Russia operate a manned military base in the capital "as a show of good faith".
Maybe we'll all learn a lesson in empathy when the US has it's own refugee crisis with Florida underwater. [editline]30th January 2017[/editline] Send them back where they came from! /s [editline]30th January 2017[/editline]
Ok can I say this, fuck whoever made this term, all it has done is lead idiots to believe this is an actual thing that magically removes carbon emissions, all it in reality is are technologies that reduce emissions, not 100% get rid of them. Apparently it's just coal you use in your home for cooking lmao. It doesn't power shit
why.
Maybe we'll all learn a lesson in empathy when the US has it's own refugee crisis with Florida underwater.
For better or for worse, that probably isn't going to happen in his lifetime

I cannot for the life of me actually ever find anything to back it up by by god someone told someone who told someone who told him so its gotta be true!
why do you all hate him so much? he's only been in for 10 days. give him more time, guys.
why do you all hate him so much? he's only been in for 10 days. give him more time, guys.
ten fucking days and anticipating apocalypse from catastrophic circumstances of climate change is becoming a valid worry more and more with each passing hour
No surprises here coming from the man who doesn't care for regulations and thinks clean coal is a real thing.
It can be. Modern Co2 scrubbers are remarkably efficient and effective. They're also remarkably expensive; Kilowatt per kilowatt, solar is infinitely cheaper than low-emissions coal. Solar can produce, over the expected lifespan of an installation, a kilowatt for $300. Low-emissions coal (85-90% reduction) requires $700-1000/kw in installation, maintenance, and operation costs on the scrubbing equipment alone. And even then, that equipment is unreliable, complicated, and reduces efficiency of the plant. Clean coal does exist. It's just massively impractical, relegated to science labs and test installations. And it isn't likely to get any cheaper, we're still using methods and technologies that were developed back in the 30s. EDITED TO CHANGE ZERO-EMISSIONS TO LOW-EMISSIONS, DUE TO A MISREADING OF THE ARTICLE.

Their interests are never going to line up exactly with their constituency. However, you can find some decent ones at the state and local levels, where identity politics aren't as strictly enforced.
GOP (not the voters - the party itself) are straight up super villains at this point.
They've been for a while now tbh
Can someone fill me in on the -why- he doesn't care about cutting emissions? I know, I hate that we're killing our own Earth quicker than we realize, but I'm interested in why the fuck they'd want to do this? Obviously money being one of them. Greed? Jobs? I heard that Trump believes climate change or emissions were made up by China? Maybe it's good that we kill each other off so Earth can renew itself.

So much for the theory that it doesn't matter what Trump thinks about climate change because he is going to save the environment by building nuclear plants.
