• Gay Asylum Seekers Face 'Humiliation' in UK
Home Office officials are under fire for using "shockingly degrading" lines of questioning when interviewing gay and lesbian asylum seekers, despite clear guidance that such an approach is unacceptable. A confidential Home Office document leaked to the Observer reveals how one bisexual asylum seeker was asked a series of lurid questions by a Home Office official, including: "Did you put your penis into x's backside?" and "When x was penetrating you, did you have an erection? Did x ejaculate inside you. Why did you use a condom?" The document reveals that during five hours of questioning in a UK detention centre, the male asylum seeker was also asked: "What is it about men's backsides that attracts you?" and "What is it about the way men walk that turns you on?" The questions, typed up by a Home Office employee, and dated last October, have been branded an "interrogation". The Home Office on Saturday admitted that staff were "not permitted to ask inappropriate or intrusive questions", but added that attempts to determine an individual's sexual orientation were conducted "as sensitively as possible". S Chelvan, a barrister and expert in asylum claims based on sexuality, said the interview, which was conducted with no lawyer present, was "shockingly degrading". What the fuck. This is some bullshit right here. Fuckin' hell Home Office.
"shockingly degrading lines" we all know what this means. discrimination is always fucking ugly
Its bad but think about it if you were asian and your life was shit you would say anything to get into Britain you need a way of telling the proper gays apart.
Its bad but think about it if you were asian and your life was shit you would say anything to get into Britain you need a way of telling the proper gays apart.
How would these questions help in achieving that goal? Surely someone could still lie in answering these questions.
I suppose it's really hard to prove that you're gay.
Its bad but think about it if you were asian and your life was shit you would say anything to get into Britain you need a way of telling the proper gays apart.
Asking "Does the way men walk turn you on" is a fucking stupid, degrading and demeaning way of trying to find out if someone is "the true gay". You don't ask asian people coming into tha country for asylum "How well do you drive? Well? That's too bad, you're obviously a fake asian."
How would these questions help in achieving that goal? Unfortunately this doesn't surprise me after reading New Internationalists' latest issue on migration. I am unsurprised whenever the Home Office is exposed as being incompetent or discriminatory. They are like a Daily Mail hitsquad.
but added that attempts to determine an individual's sexual orientation were conducted "as sensitively as possible" ..... "Did you put your penis into x's backside?" and "When x was penetrating you, did you have an erection? Did x ejaculate inside you.
couldn't just have asked if you are gay/bi/straight? i don't really see how this even is relevant to the whole process anyways, i wouldn't doubt they don't do the same thing here in the U.S. though
Because of the asian mindset the fake ones wouldn't be able to carry it through [editline]9th February 2014[/editline] Especially from muslim countries
report for racism and move on
asylums are corrupt? Who would have known?

You could truthfully give either a yes or no answer to any of the questions quoted in the article and still be a homsoexual.
Maybe the employee was gay/bi or just sexually secure and he was saying it in a sarcastically sexual way just to joke around with the other guy, and they were both having a laugh, and it just sounds completely out of context on paper.
*Zip* "How does this penis make you feel?"
What does it mean for someone to seek an asylum?
There's no easy way to do it, is there? Either you ask potentially degrading and useless questions, or you just take some ones word for it? Finding a moderate path is pretty difficult here.
There's no easy way to do it, is there? Either you ask potentially degrading and useless questions, or you just take some ones word for it? Finding a moderate path is pretty difficult here.
I think the point is that being accused of being a homosexual and being a homosexual is in effect the same thing when it comes to being at risk. Just as it's hard to prove you are gay it's also hard to prove that you are not gay to those who would make it necessary for you to seek asylum. You should only have to prove that you are in danger because of allegations of homosexuality even if you yourself are not actually a homosexual.
What does it mean for someone to seek an asylum?
it's somebody who wants to escape their country, because of violence or fear of persecution. correct me if I'm wrong
Those questions are dumb though. What does a question like "what part of the *insert sex* ass turns you on" achieve?
Yeah, it's kind of like asking "Why do breasts turn you on?" There's pretty much no way to answer a question like that. They just do.
What does it mean for someone to seek an asylum?
"Seeking asylum" is to attempt to gain access to and the protection of another country due to your native country having circumstances which would lead to the individual being persecuted or otherwise unsafe.
Yeah, it's kind of like asking "Why do breasts turn you on?" There's pretty much no way to answer a question like that. They just do.
The correct answer is "Because they are round and bouncy".
