I am going to get a new computer soon (hopefully within the month). I know that most people are just saying wait for the Sandy Bridge processor and mobos to come back but should I wait for such a cheap(er) build? And is it worth the wait?
Budget is 800-900 (ish)
Have mouse, Hard Drive, OS, CD drive.
Need a keyboard and the rest.
Thanks!
Where do you live?
For your budget, I would actually say go AMD, since you need a monitor and speakers(?)

Also if your OS is XP it's probably worth it to switch to 7
And are your HDD / DVD drive SATA or IDE?

actually depending on your answers to my questions you might be able to get Sandy Bridge

Ahh I'm sorry I forgot to include those. I have 2 monitors (Don't really need both however, if that makes a difference) and speakers. I have Windows 7. HD and drives are both SATA.
I live in the US (Texas).
Oh Ok then. $850 should be more than enough to get something like a 2500K and a GTX 560
So I suggest you wait
Alright, will do. Thank a lot. Has there been any updates on when newegg should be getting the mobos and processors?
Apparently soon. Like less than a month hopefully.
I think I'm just going to build one now. I hate playing the waiting game and just having it end in a rat race.
So, I have a mouse, OS (? - I believe it should work on a different mobo? I originally bought this PC from dell and came with XP, I then bought the Vista upgrade and then got the free 7 upgrade, should it work?), monitor, Hard Drive, Speakers, Drive (HD and Drive are SATA).
I need the rest, including a new Keyboard (And possibly mouse).
Thanks.
On Newegg's end, it comes to $700, which leaves you ~$150 to get yourself a nice P67 from somewhere else

Although I still encourage you that you wait a couple of weeks and buy everything from Newegg, since the motherboards are bound to give you better combo deals, and it's just convenient to order everything at one place
And who knows? Maybe prices will fall a bit.

Is there anywhere to get a working P67 right now? Like, have any suggestions of somewhere to get it?

Oh, and what about a build without sandy bridge?
I have no idea, but if you have to go for a build right now, this is probably your best bet

I still like Sandy Bridge better though.
Jaehead, I agree that he should wait for p67. Going with old technology (am3 870) would be bad, if he could go SB for $100 more.

Well won't Bulldozer be AM3 compatible?
Although there's no point in Phenoms right now unless your budget is sub-700.

Probably, but buying old chipsets when SB is out/bulldozer is around the corner is unwise
Ahh, I'm very impartial about what I want to do. But I am very impatient.
