we live in 2014 and shit like this is still going on why would you do this
Is this just a culture thing or did gaming shoot itself in the foot with a bazooka?
Is this just a culture thing
How does that make it ok?
Is this just a culture thing or did gaming shoot itself in the foot with a bazooka?
They tried to rocket jump for the stars but ended up going straight into the sun
How does that make it ok?
He's not saying it does.
This is retarded. It's a God damn card game. "no gurls allowed, gurls arnt legit"
This is just idiotic, they're almost on par with mlg on the shit scale now.
we live in 2014 and shit like this is still going on why would you do this
Because korea.
Someone should ban South Koreans in (joke)response with the reason "Being South Korean is an unfair advantage equivalent to Doping. Therefore we have decided to ban South Koreans to promote a fair and equal sport."
esports is not sports there's a very obvious reason why men and women are separate in actual real sports
How can people think like this and not see the stupidity?
People are only looking at the surface level and deciding the people in charge are sexist, when in fact they're just dumb and slaves to sports conventions in order to seem legitimate. They reason that a lot of real sports have separate men's and women's leagues, so if they do the same with esports they'll be like a real sport. Only problem of course is that while that makes sense for physical sports because the physical structure of men and women are different, with video games there's not a lot of physical exertion. Don't blame them for being sexist though, just blame them for being spineless and stupid.

It has nothing to do with "manchildren" that will throw "tantrums" in the tournament. I know it's hard for you, but please do try to read the entire article before throwing out insults randomly like you usually do.
No, that is exactly what it is. It's entirely ridiculous.
Yeah, it is ridiculous, but it has nothing to do with people getting bitter about losing to a woman in a game. It has to do with the winner winning a spot in the other tournament, and the other tournament going by the korean tournament regulation of male only participants.

Bullshit I play like nothing but hearthstone these days! The sad part is you'd assume this would be a PR disaster or this would be essentially shooting themselves in the foot but tbh nobody's going to care, attitudes won't be changed anytime soon, and buisness will go on as usual. Maybe they might even be sponsored by A Voice of Men or something lol. Also "this move was done to further esports as a legitimate sport" ??? how does sexism further anything. at least in real sports you can explain why there's different men and women leagues.

"it's always been this way/it's already like this and we can't change" isn't legit btw if you want to bring that up for some reason. then we've got this part of the article
Koskivirta's argument is that, by allowing women into their qualifier, there's a risk that the winner wouldn't be eligible to enter the IeSF's World Championship final.
"we can't let women in because then the players wouldn't be eligible to enter the world championship" why? "because women aren't allowed in the tournament" why? "we can't let women in because then the players wouldn't be eligible to enter the world championship"
and the completely legitimate reason as to why women aren't allowed in SK's tournaments is....?
Because the SK company is trying to make esports appear like a "real sport", so they segregated them like "real sports" do. Shitty, yes. Absolutely retarded, yes. But is any of this the fault of strawmanchildren? No. People like you who misplace blame to further your own agenda is why feminism is still laughed at. This was a business decision, profit was the goal, not magic hate against women by manchildren.
who the fuck would watch a hearthstone tournament in the first place
who the fuck would watch a hearthstone tournament in the first place
Yeah fuck people who watch video games they like what the fuck
The Finnish qualifier already said they are campaigning against the male-only setup (according to the article). Redirect your anger at the IeSF for trying to segregate eSports just because traditional sports are segregated.
I wonder how many just read the title of this before posting?

The only thing that this decision does is prevent an entire portion of the population from playing, and tell potential viewers and supporters "You aren't welcome here." It is literally counter-intuitive.

I didn't say it was it wasn't stupid and would work, just that they think it's gonna work.

What you have written makes absolutely no sense, you should calm down and stop writing these illogical, cocky and passive-aggressive rants.
Because the SK company is trying to make esports appear like a "real sport", so they segregated them like "real sports" do. Shitty, yes. Absolutely retarded, yes. From the article and their behavior, it is safe to assume that they're retarded, but we can't say for sure they're also sexist. It is an option, but it's not confirmed, therefore we should not take it for fact. Basically keep your torch/pitchfork down till you know for fact that it's safe to join the mob. Else you just make an idiot of yourself.
If they had to exclude women because it's a "business decision", that doesn't make the move not a sexist thing
Is it sexist to separate Football into womens league and mens league? It's done to give the different genders a fair chance at winning and being present in the sport. If Football was done with mixed genders there would be a dominance of men, leaving the women with a very low chance of being present in the sport. They are just following the same idea here, treating esports as a "real sport" meaning they follow rules that doesn't make sense in a digital sport just because it's a sport. As pants on head retarded it is, you can't call it sexist because it has nothing to do with discrimination and sexism. Don't give them so much credit, they're just stupid.
