Hey guys just thought I'd share this inspiring news.
My friend Dylan was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy when he was 14. Tomorrow he will be attempting to shatter the world record for World’s Longest Stationary Wheelchair Wheelie! His goal is 18 hours, 8 more than the previous record and hopes to raise at least $2000 for muscular dystrophy research and treatments.
Below is a post from Dylan.

Hello, my name is Dylan Kennedy.
Welcome to my website for my Guinness World Record attempt. The record I am trying to break is
“World’s Longest Stationary Wheelchair Wheelie”. The current record is 10 hours and 1 second held
by a man named Hermann Van Heerden in South Africa. I do not plan on beating the record by just a
few minutes, I plan on going for an 18 hour wheelie a full 8 HOURS over the current record.
I am 21 years old and live in a small town in Cape Breton called Little Lorraine. I was diagnosed with
muscular dystrophy and neuropathy when I was 14 years old and have been in a wheelchair on
and off since then due to many surgeries on my feet and legs. In July 2013, I had to get my right leg
amputated below the knee because the foot was infected beyond hope of curing the infection. Since
then I have gotten a prosthetic leg and am back on my feet walking and feeling better than ever!
Since I have been in a wheelchair so much in the last 7 years, I have become very good at doing
wheelies and am very comfortable doing them for extended periods of time. So far in my practices
I have tied the record of 10 hours but have not exceeded it. The record breaking attempt will take place
on June 20th and 21st, 2014 at the Community Room on the Sydney Boardwalk..
This event is in support of Muscular Dystrophy Canada and in memory of a great man-Bobby Kennedy!
Any donation will be greatly appreciated. Donations of $20 and more are automatically tax receipted!
These donations help families affected by muscular dystrophy get the mobility equipment, assistive devices,
services and support that they need while we continue the search for a cure.
Thank you for helping me make muscles move!

That nurse isn't short, Dylan is just tall as hell, 6'11 infact.
Good luck to him!
For sure, he's already tied the 10 hour record in his practices so I'm confident in him.
And this nets him only 2000 fucking dollars?!
He should get 20.000 at least

It's all based on donations, so hopefully people will donate more at the event and online.
I'd be glad to donate some money towards this when I get home from work. Good luck to Dylan, May he shatter that record :)
I don't think I could do a wheelchair wheelie for 18 seconds, holy crap.

That's fine, I didn't come here to raise money, only awareness but I appreciate it regardless.
Holy hell that guy is huge. Good luck!
I really like your friend's attitude, and I hope the record breaking all goes well. It is very inspiring.
Oh by the way I donated 5 CAD.

Right on!
Also, how does one embed a video from Facebook? (if its possible) I want to embed the video rather than link it.
Also, I'll be grabbing video of the event tomorrow. It starts at 4pm and if all goes as planned will end 18 hours later at 10AM the following morning.
Best of luck to your friend.
Just thinking out loud, but
What if he had to pee, or worse?

12.5 hours is new record! Good job Dill!
Awesome job
That's p. cool.
So he is now a world record holder and he is just trying to set the bar as high as possible?
If he's up to it, let him keep it longer.
Don't want David Blaine to break the record anytime soon
I want to buy the Guinness Book of Records next year just to see this now, this is so awesome.
Never actually thought of attempting a wheelchair wheelie when I had to be on a wheelchair.
[editline]21st June 2014[/editline]
Is there a way to donate anonymously?
[editline]21st June 2014[/editline]
As in without the need to fill up contact information

yeah he holds the world record now at 12.5 hours, 2.5 hours more than the previous record
-snip-
your friend is fucking HUGE
That sounds extremely hard to do, I'm glad he beat it, and for a good cause too. He sounds like a great person, I wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.
Also I just noticed he didn't have a leg, any disability is very unfortunate, but I gotta admit having a metal leg looks pretty badass.
I would also like to know what he would do when he needs to pee.
[editline]22nd June 2014[/editline]
Also I would like to know how his muscle dystrophy is going. Unfortunately those with the disease don't have a very long life span :(
