Stuart Scott, the longtime "SportsCenter" anchor and ESPN personality known for his known for his enthusiasm and ubiquity, died Sunday. He was 49.
Scott had fought cancer since a diagnosis in late 2007, the network said, but remained dedicated to his craft even as he underwent chemotherapy, radiation and surgery.
ESPN President John Skipper said in a statement that Scott was "a true friend and a uniquely inspirational figure" and that his "energetic and unwavering devotion to his family and to his work while fighting the battle of his life left us in awe, and he leaves a void that can never be replaced."
This is who I think of when I think of Sportscenter. Tragic story, condolences to his family. ESPN will never be the same. He was always as cool as the other side of the pillow
Hell of a guy, it's a shame he died so young, also can't imagine how his daughters feel too.
Stu's ESPY speech from...just half a year ago.

Watching this now makes me tear up. All the different sports programs reporting on it this morning and their tributes hit hard.
Booyah in Peace, Stu. Dude was an amazing human being
Stuart was the epitome of SportsCenter. Each night at 9pm, he made even the slowest news days interesting and his monologues were absolutely unskippable. The world has lost an incredible on-air personality in Stuart Scott. I can't even imagine ESPN without him, despite the fact that he was absent from duty for many of the last months.
Gotta turn over to the cool side of the pillow
Here's Rich Eisen's(sporstscenter partner) tribute to him. Very touching

Wow, he had no time to take the news that a good friend of his passed and he was able to manage a great little speech while choking back tears. It hurts to see Rich Eisen so broken up, he's such a good caster and a good man. For a 2 minute video its pretty hard to watch.
