'Star Wars' creator George Lucas has confirmed media reports that the successful film franchise is to be turned into a sitcom.
Although originally dismissed by many last week as an April Fool's Joke, Lucas' company has revealed that it is working on an animated series that will poke fun at the sci-fi movies. Seth Green and Matthew Senreich, the creators of Robot Chicken, have been hired as creative consultants.
The latest spin-off from the film series follows the well-received 'Star Wars: The Clone Wars' cartoon, which launched in 2008.
However, many fans have voiced their concerns that previous attempts at injecting humour into the space saga have backfired. 'Star Wars' fanatics on internet forums have cited both 'The Phantom Menace'’s 'comedy' character Jar-Jar Binks and the 1978 holiday special as examples of how it can go badly wrong.
Jennifer Hill, who is producing the series, told Daily Variety magazine that she is not worried about the criticism.
She said: “With the team we’re establishing, Matt Senreich and Seth Green, it’s going to be really fun and funny to the public. So I’m not too concerned about that.”
What do you think? Good idea or bad idea? Let us know...
Bullshit. This can only end up bad.

God, someone needs to go explain Lucas that he needs to move on and let star wars be.
This would've been better recieved in the early 90's, but I don't think it'd be as good today.
For some reason, I can't help but think of Friends set in space when I think of a Star Wars sitcom.

Ejecting the cast of Friends into the cold vacuum of space does sound entertaining...

It would have been better received in the 90's only because the miserable failure that was the new trilogy didn't exist yet.
So people still assumed that George Lucas knew what he was doing.
I'm going to watch this and it's going to be so horrible that it ends up being hilarious
I cannot possibly see how this cannot possibly be terrible in everyway.

It'd only be good if it's live action.
I mean, how many of you haven't laughed your asses off at gifs or youtube videos of people in stormtrooper outfits dancing?
That's all you need!

Problem is, that he is paid to say yes and go :words:
The thought of a new Star Wars Holiday Special literally terrifies me.
I don't see how it is supposed to work out...
So long as it isn't all wookies talking with no subtitles like the holiday special, it's not going to be worse than that was.
First thing I thought was 'Family Guy'
This is gonna fail
As if the "The Clone Wars" show wasn't bad enough, now there's this.
God damn.
I'd rather see them work more on getting their Star Wars TV series out sooner.
