Are the mods doing their job? Or are they power hungry? - General

Now, I was banned for a day for calling somebody an "idiot". And other people are banned for seriously retarded reasons. Such as saying "wut" in a thread, instead of banning the user, how about a warning and delete the post? Everyday I see at least 200 people banned on this forum. I don't post a lot, but I definitely browse it looking for Garry's Mod content, and it's sad to see these stupid ban reasons. Does Garry tell these moderators to do this? Or is it all done by themselves? In all of my forums I've visited, this one is definitely unique. I love this forum, the only downside is that everybody gets automatically banned for doing one thing wrong. It's like saying you get automatic jail-time for doing drugs, but in the real world, you get to go through rehabilitation programs and such. Also, does Garry pay the moderators to do this? What do they get out of banning everybody that posts on the forums? And in my opinion, if this keeps up, the forum will die quicker than most people imagine. Now, I'm probably going to be banned from the forums permanently for some stupid reason, even though this is actually a legitimate topic in the correct forum. So guys, voice your opinions on the moderators! Except don't say the mods are noobs or something! They may BAN YOU!

If you were banned for a day, the best idea would be to NOT post a thread in general discussion bitching about it.

The reasoning is that if they get banned, they won't do it again. It's not the mods' job to babysit for you guys.

You're going to get banned. This is sort of like real life where you are going to encounter assholes who, simply, have more power then you. So just put up with it.

I think they're doing their job for the most part.

Depends on the mod. So it's a little bit of both For the most part they seem to be doing alright

the temp bans are the warnings but all the rules are fair, not knowing something is wrong doesn't excuse you from it
