So I'm in the market for a new system because I've been using an FX-4100 forevers. I haven't used an Intel processor for over a decade now, but with the state that AMD is currently in I don't really feel like AMD would be a good option.
I plan on using my current GPU in the build so that could possibly be my bottleneck.
My budget is $800. This is my current selection.

I plan on using this computer for games and calculation heavy programs such as mandelbrot sets and various other fractal imagery.
I would see about getting 2 x 8GB sticks of RAM as opposed to 1 x 16GB. Running in dual channel is far quicker and it's generally the same price or cheaper than just one stick. There's a simple graph on it here.

Dual channel doesn't really make much of a difference at all for gaming when you have a dGPU, but your calculations may definitely benefit from it. So sway to 2x8 and swap the PSU for a good one like this
