Because most of these updates for Minecraft aren't a simple bug or exploit fix, as most actually introduce new content. Also I don't know if you notice it, but RPS does post articles nearly all the time an update for another game is released. Also as a final note: The rate of updates has decreased? Yeah it was slow earlier, but look how much content has been released in 1.4 and 1.5, and how long ago was 1.4 released?
