Monitor not displaying native resolution correctly anymore
3 replies, posted
For some reason, my native resolution(1680x1050) has stopped displaying properly. Every other resolution is displayed as it's supposed too, except the proper one. It appears "stretched", as in, the monitor only shows 2/3rds of the screen, the rest extends beyond the monitor. This problem appeared when I turned my computer on yesterday.
I have tried re-installing video drivers, to no avail.

Check the monitor settings. They are found on the monitor itself. Look for either screen size options or an auto calibrate function.

I have. To no avail.
Although, I have found something in ATI Catalyst that fixes it-- sorta.

When I push that button, it fixes it.
As soon as I run a game on fullscreen, it returns to the broken state.

Check the settings in the game. Make sure the aspect ratio is correct (if available) and try using the same resolution.
I'm not familiar with the Catalyst, but it sounds like it isn't keeping the settings. Make sure it is the latest version available.
You could also try something other than a VGA connection, such as DVI. Screen sizes are usually kept static then.
