Hey guys, I have a little problem with my graphics card, and I want to see if the problem fixes itself when I change my DirectX from 11 to 9. Or 10. I downloaded DirectX 9 and installed it, but nothing changed. How do I change DirectX 11 to DirectX 9? Cheers!
I don't think you can do that, it probably wouldn't fix anything anyway. Why don't you just tell us what the problem is?
Well, I do know it's possible to install dx9 and dx10 side-by-side, but I don't know if that's possible with dx10 and dx11.

The update made the game a fair bit more demanding IIRC, so yeah, basically upgrading hardware or turning down software is the way to fix it.

You don't change DirectX versions. It depends on the game, if it even runs on DiretX 10 (or better) and if it allows you to change the DirectX version. In the case of GTA IV, it only uses DirectX 9.
So, that laptop has DirectX 11. Should I keep it that way?
Yes. If a game isn't designed to use a certain version of DirectX, it won't.
GTA 4 doesn't even use Dx11. [editline]10:56AM[/editline] I need to read through the threads before I post in them.
DirectX doesn't work that way.
