Last year family matriarch Barbara Bush proclaimed there have been "enough Bushes" in the White House, but recently son Jeb unambiguously revived prospects of extending the political dynasty.
In his most elaborate discussion yet on the matter of 2016, the popular two-term Republican governor of Florida sent a jolt through the political chattering class by promising he will decide by year's end whether he will run, and by laying out what a possible Jeb Bush candidacy might look like.
At an event marking the 25th anniversary of his father George Bush's presidency, the second son discussed his own prospective campaign -- an "optimistic" challenge to today's rough-and-tumble politics that have marred recent Republican nominating contests.
Should he run, Bush said Sunday at his father's presidential library, he would not get drawn "back into the vortex of the mud fight."
While core conservatives like Senator Ted Cruz, a putative 2016 rival, have argued that Republicans must nominate the most conservative electable candidate, Bush takes the middle road.
He encourages fiscal prudence while defying party orthodoxy on issues like immigration and supporting national educational standards panned by the right wing.
"Campaigns ought to be about listening and learning and getting better," he said. "I do think we've lost our way."
In short, he seeks a broader Republican vision "organized around winning the election, not making a point," he said, signalling he won't demand ideological purity that can rally the base but doom the party in national contests.
I thought this thread was going to be a joke.
I like what he's saying. Finally, a politician we can trust. :downs:
Can I have Mr. McCain instead? He's been keeping it real since 2008.
hahahahahahahaaaaaa.
Aaaaahahahaha.
No.
If he's anything like his brother and also managed to get elected, I might have to actually start an armed rebellion. I'm not going through another eight fucking years of retarded Bush antics.

I'm tired of these bleeding heart liberals in MY white house, so I'm voting for whoever is NOT OBAMA
Bush Vs. Clinton: Because 1776 was all about not being ruled by dynasties! In all seriousness, this would not be a good move by the GOP since the name Bush has been tainted by wars and economic failure. The GOP have two options, nominate a moderate and have the "far right" side of the party stay home and hand the election to the Democrats (maybe, depending on whether people get the 8-year itch and want a new party in office), or take a chance and run a tea party candidate with the hopes that it entices the fringe, whose numbers could make or break them, and hope the moderates go along with it too. Either way, 2016 will be another "hold my nose when I vote" election as I can't stand the establishment GOP nor the Tea Party.
Oh god please no. Can we have someone that wont be corrupt for once? No? okay guess ill just roll over again and take it up the ass some more.

I honestly miss Bush's stupidity. He was such a goof
The bush dynasty will rule again! ALL HAIL THE KING!

I wonder what country we'll invade next!
Though it seems that Jeb is less diehard conservative... could be a trap, though.
No More Bush 2008 AD-3008 AD

Greenland!
No Jeb.
You're supposed to be in space.
No Clinton, No Bush.
No more dynasties rules by Monsanto and Banks!
H.W. wasn't really a bad president. A lot of people don't like him because he went back on his campaign promise ("read my lips: no new taxes") and approved a tax increase, but it was the best thing he could do for the country (and he knew it, political suicide or not)
Dubya was the worse of the two, and I honestly don't get why he got elected twice
Dynasties in power in any position is a signal of a failing democracy
Bernie Sanders pls
no fuck off. i hated you as governor of florida and ill hate you as president.
Between Hillary and her there's some pretty shit candidates for next election year.
Lesser of two evils..
I wouldn't say Gore was THAT bad.
No but he was pretty flippy floppy. Plus he was all about "green" before "green" was popular, he was pretty doomed to fail.
Gore wasn't doomed to fail. Bush barely won by a Supreme Court decision.
Oh god please no.
If this is the best the RNC can do, the republicans have already lost 2016.

That tax increase sent the country into a recession, breaking the 93 month recovery.
And George W wasn't elected twice. He was elected once, in 2004. Remember Al Gore won the popular vote in 2000.
I Dunno, Obama made a ton of promises and rallied a ton of support, then proceeded to piss away all of that support (granted it's not totally his fault, but people see it as his fault), I'd say the RNC actually has a fighting chance.
Don't get me wrong, I'd vote for Jeb Bush over Hillary Clinton everyday.
Hell I'd vote for a can of orange juice over Hillary Clinton, but the problem with Jeb Bush is he's just another big government RINO republican who isn't fiscally responsible.
There are tons of people who still blindly defend President Obama, and won't be so quick to forget 2001-2009.
yeah but how can he win if he doesn't have himself behind his back to rig the Florida vote
The USA is very nearly a dual monarchy for the last couple of decades, no?
Lesser of two evils..
Gore would have been better, he wanted to stop ManBearPig.
Iraq would not survive another Bush.

Probably russia, with all the bullcrap they've been pulling lately
That is if he's as dumb as George W. And if he even gets voted
