Back in Feb. I started smoking every day, still haven't stopped. About 3 weeks later, I was high in the shower, and I had some weird pain in my foot, and I got all freaked out and pretty cause myself to have a panic attack. Sound would freak me the hell out, and this pain in my foot was so intense, I felt like my veins would rip out of my feet.
Ever since then, smoking weed has always been a little odd. I get pains in my lower abdomen sometimes, or my neck, sometimes my left arm. I've had a handful of panic attacks since then, but I still have good highs. I pretty much always tweak out (get really hyper/jittery).
I know for a fact that I have social anxiety, but I was diagnosed with ADHD as a kid. I used to take Ritalin like 8 years ago, and have been on Strattera for about 5 years now. I stopped my Strattera after the first panic attack because I figured that might have been a cause, and oddly enough, nothing changed (as in, NOTHING, I used to be hyper as fuck off my Strattera and now I'm not).
I'm 99% sure I just get anxious and all my physical symptoms are all just anxiety-related, but the goddamn 1% uncertainty ruins it. I feel my heart pounding sometimes, and I just start to panic. Thoughts?
More importantly: how do I start having awesome highs again?
perhaps you should see a doctor about getting anxiety pills.
i've been considering it for quite some time because i have social anxiety too but i can keep it under control 95% of the time but sometimes i just feel out of place and i don't say anything (especially when i'm around people i don't know very well)
For your 'awesome high' i suggest taking a 3-4 day break and then toking up again.

I was actually in my doctor's office a few weeks, and I was just too scared to say anything. v_v
Like what should I say, and how should I bring it up? I was in there to get presricbed more Strattera (which I haven't taken in months), but I don't want to mention weed... Do I just say that I've discovered I have social anxiety? (Fuck I'm useless... >_>)
Or is there a way to treat anxiety without medication? Like aromatherapy or something?
Just try to casually bring up social anxiety disorder or whatever and try to act as perplexed as possible about what's happening to you. I somewhat doubt it's the weed causing it though.
Also stop smoking so fucking much, god damn.
To be honest, this is the only thing I actually believe about weed. It really does bring on anxiety disorders that are irreversible a lot of the time. If you're having anxiety from weed, don't just get benzos and continue, stop smoking, it's just not for you. My mate has been fucked up for life from smoking weed daily. It's caused him to have a huge anxiety disorder, and it's not uncommon either.
I think the heart pounding in the chest thing is common with weed. And thinking about it only makes it worse. I know for a long time it freaked the fuck out of me. But I didn't let the fear consume me and kept smoking weed and now it hardly bothers me. Just do anything to distract yourself from it. That's what I hate when I'm high, doing nothing, it causes you to notcie shit that starts bugging you. So I always try to keep doing something.

Also I believe that an increased heart rate is normal with marijuana but most people don't notice it.
Plus pain and other sensations everyone gets now and then. Like my friend kept feeling like her legs were burning (I think it was increased blood flow or something, I'm just guessing). She could have panicked but realises its part of the effects of the plant so doesn't get bothered by it.
And does anyone else find while high things like that and pain feel more intense?
Yeah tachycardia is normal and it's not dangerous unless combined with another drug (such as a stimulant) or if you have a pre-existing heart condition.
Yeah tachycardia is normal and it's not dangerous unless combined with another drug (such as a stimulant) or if you have a pre-existing heart condition.
what can you do to get the heart rate down? I always find it shoots up for a bit after I've toked then calms down a bit (though generally remains above resting rate)
There's nothing you can do that's safe to reduce heartrate. Splashing cold water on your face works or propanolol definitely works great but beta-blockers + weed seems silly.
You can tell a Doctor about you taking Weed, it's their Hippocratic oath NOT to tell others (Police included).
Otherwise, you may not get the help you need. :/
But, I would also like to say;

go away, won't you? there's a good chap.

Oh well it's normal anyway and probably not going at a dangerous rate
Indeed, I rarely exceed 100bpm on weed unless I'm getting bad vibes, but that's only happened once. 100bpm or over is the technical definition for tachycardia so it's an exaggeration really. Weed tends to bump me up 20bpm or so and my resting heart rate is like 65bpm.
Yeah, same here I think. Rough estimate would be going up to 80-90 BPM for me. But I haven't ever taken a count while high. I think if I did that I risk ruining the high and becoming paranoid about it :v:
I find it weird that weed does this though. I can become a right couch potato sometimes.

Get the fuck out. I had it too and it's not fun. Thankfully I managed to kinda get over it.
Yeah, my BPM is normal (well... it's about the same as if I'm running or something), and I'm pretty active and my heart is fine. When I skateboard high, it's one of the few things I can do and not feel bad at all.
I'm guessing if I treat my anxiety, I should be fine to smoke.

No. Treating an issue caused by drugs with other drugs is stupid. Weed is harmless, Benzos aren't. If you only toke up with Benzos then you risk a crippling shitty abyss that is Benzo addiction. If you get panic attacks stop immediately. Seriously. I know from personal experience it genuinely fucks people up if they continue to smoke even after having experienced panic attacks. Not fun for you or the others around you.
Weed has same effect on me unless I toke when I am drunk or already in very good mood.

You are aware that there's other ways of treating anxiety, right? Medicine is garbage anyways. I know quite a few people who've done therapy or something for anxiety and it gets rid of it. Anxiety is one of those things that isn't hard-wired, since it's mostly just an emotion.

Personally I believe anxiety is hard wired when you reach a certain age. There's no turning back. "Treatment" implied medication but I do believe therapy CAN work too, however getting therapy so you can use a drug seems dumb as fuck. It really is one of the only negatives about weed but it really does cause anxiety long-term in a minority of users. Look on erowid and you'll see a lot of interesting experiences with that.

No, it's not, but you'll get over it when you realize that it's just wasting your life away when you worry 24/7.
I think you can get over anxiety by facing it head on. Forcing yourself to do things even when your anxiety tells you not to.

it's generally accepted in every field of psychology that this is a terrible idea that isn't effective in any circumstance.
[editline]05:22PM[/editline]
the only way this might be useful is if the person doesn't really have anxiety and is fabricating it for whatever reason; feigning sensitivity that's gotten out of hand or due to some other unrelated mental problem. but i'm guessing that this doesn't apply to the op.
however getting therapy so you can use a drug seems dumb as fuck.
Except that my anxiety affects other stuff than just my high.
