• Which is better? HD 5870 or 295 GTX ?

I'm just curious which performs better because I own the 295 GTX and I heard from some people that the HD 5870 performs better. I don't know which is way better so I decided to ask you guys here from some opinion. it's just a question.
I think they are about the same.
The 5870 is better because, It doesn't require as much power, and it has newer technology But if your thinking about upgrading then its not worth it
Generally the 295 does better, but the 5870 does come very close to beating the 295 in many of the benchmarks I've seen. I'd stay with what you have right now, as going to a 5870 would be more of a downgrade for you. If you want something better than start saving for a 5970.

Not much difference actually. And I don't really know if that benchmark was made-up or real.
dx11, thats all that would be worth it and its a pretty poor trade-in just for that D:
If you look at benchmarks, the 295 performs better. However if you look at other aspects such as power consumption, features and cooling, The 5870 is better. It uses less power, has more features including DX11 and is a lot cooler.
The 5870 is better overall.

But why upgrade from a GTX295? It should be enough for the rest of 2010 (depending on your resolution and if you want Direct X 11 or not.) I'd wait at least a few series if it was me. Rather a big upgrade than a small one, that way you also use your money more wisely :v:.
could tell it was a fake just because a chart stated that a mid-high end single 300 would outperform a 5970 and it's 2 gpu's. Really though, wait at least to see how well the 300 series and if dx11 is pushed further on in design. Half a year you never know what to expect (I mean laptops containing a 5870 is enough to put me on the death bed)
Watch Nvidia do the same shit with the 3xx series as they did with the 9xxx series. It's going to be a bunch of rebranded crap, complete with woodscrews. By the way, I've been meaning to replace all the screws in my 9800 GT with woodscrews. [editline]11:10PM[/editline] I already did it with an 8400 GS.
dumbass fanboy tit itq
No, it's just that everyone lately expects the GTX300 series to be the end all solution to everything. This is Murphy's Law, not fanboyism.

I could do that, or I could not.
295 performs better, but the 5870 is better for price/performance.
it's GTX 295, not 295 GTX. If you want to call it that, call the HD 5870 the 5870 HD.
it's GTX 295, not 295 GTX. If you want to call it that, call the HD 5870 the 5870 HD.
what does it matter
what does it matter
Maybe it doesn't matter to you, but those of us with OCD cringe whenever we see that.
what does it matter
It's like taking i5 and saying 5i. It doesn't sound right.
Keep the GTX 295. . . . Don't be tarded.
Buy a 5970 and give the GTX 295 to somebody on FacePunch.
Fuck, I'll take the GTX 295 anyday.
I'm the local hardware hoarder, give it to me.
give it to me, i want to try to volt mod it. I don't want to break my GTX 275s, so i should practice on your expensive 295
Fixed. On a more serious note, the 5870 is slightly better framerate wise. It also has DX11 and EyeFinity
No. The GTX 295 beats a 5870 in pure performance. The 5870 however performs better as far as price:performance goes.
The 5870 beats it at lower resolutions though. GTX 295 only beats it 1080p+
The 5870 beats it at lower resolutions though. GTX 295 only beats it 1080p+
under that you don't need either anyway so that's a crap point to make
The 5870 beats it at lower resolutions though. GTX 295 only beats it 1080p+
Yeah, but don't people like to play higher res?
Yeah, but don't people like to play higher res?
Only if your display supports it. that may sound like a stupid statement but my display only supports 720p.
