The trade group even made a television ad to try to bolster its image and make clear that it is different—better—than the likes of Shkreli and his greedy ways. Is it, though? If you ask Shkreli, it's not. And he’s made a website to try to convince you. On the bare-bones Pharmaskeletons.com, an angry and vengeful Shkreli lists instances of greed, criminal behavior, and other sleaziness of individual members of the pharmaceutical trade group PhRMA. Not all his claims are backed up, explained, or accurate. But the site still offers an embarrassing catalogue of bad deeds, which Shkreli told STAT he would continually update. So far, he’s listed out 26 companies and provided a little dirt on almost all of them. For instance, he noted that in 2004, Abbott Laboratories hiked the price of an AIDS drug by 400 percent, sparking public backlash and a boycott by doctors. ... I'm reading that website, and the salt content is so high I think I need a drink.
I'm reading that website, and the salt content is so high I think I need a drink.
Sorry, we only have salt water here
So the exact same thing he did.
Read the full thing on the website
Abbott raised the price of an HIV drug, Norvir, (sound familiar?) to huge public outcry. People were pissed. They didn't need to. Abbott had billions of dollars of net income that year. Abbott still raises the price of Humira, every year. This is despite Humira being the best selling drug on the planet.

Read the full thing on the website
So how is this different? Shkreli's justifications for price hike come across as pure spin.
I didn't realize he took such a big pay cut as CEO, wow.
So how is this different? Shkreli's justifications for price hike come across as pure spin.
Is it? Last i read and heard, it was grounded at least somewhat in fact and there were some stuff backing up his claims.
Is it? Last i read and heard, it was grounded at least somewhat in fact and there were some stuff backing up his claims.
If you read his wikipedia article he's done the same thing multiple times and is currently under investigation for investment fraud.
If you read his wikipedia article he's done the same thing multiple times and is currently under investigation for investment fraud.
Ah.
Shkreli is scum of the earth. I'm not surprised to see that he's been booted and I'm not surprised he's compiled a list of deeds out of salt and spite. Not saying what the companies are doing is good, but dudes a hypocrite and he can burn in hell.
Is it? Last i read and heard, it was grounded at least somewhat in fact and there were some stuff backing up his claims.
Having read about his fraud trials, I don't take anything the guy says at face value.
In a seven-count indictment unsealed Thursday, Martin Shkreli, the embattled CEO and founder of Turing Pharmaceuticals, has been charged by the FBI with securities fraud, securities fraud conspiracy, and wire fraud conspiracy for allegedly orchestrating three interwoven schemes. In what the Department of Justice terms “Ponzi-like” schemes, Shkreli allegedly defrauded investors of two former hedge funds he managed and misappropriated $11 million in assets from the biopharmaceutical company he once headed, Retrophin, all in the course of about five years.
Mind you that this all is AFAIK still under investigation and unverified. There's either a massive conspiracy against him or he's a con and spinning the Daraprim price hike seem like a better thing than it actually is. I'm partial towards the latter.
So the exact same thing he did.
Except he uses the money from the price hike to fund R&D and says that the CEO's of other pharma companies just keep the money for themselves while barely, if at all, use if for R&D
If you read his wikipedia article he's done the same thing multiple times and is currently under investigation for investment fraud.
I don't really understand how raising drug prices more than once makes a specific instance somehow worse. It's a reasonable business strategy and he's very open about the fact that he's done it multiple times. [editline]25th January 2017[/editline]
Why is he scum of the earth?
Because the TV said he's killing AIDS/cancer patients!
Don't forget the media said it is life saving malaria medicine even though it's no longer used for that.
Getting pretty tired of all the edgy "he's not actually that bad, really" posts I've been seeing. Guys a POS and everyone knows it. None of you are cool for thinking otherwise.
Getting pretty tired of all the edgy "he's not actually that bad, really" posts I've been seeing. Guys a POS and everyone knows it. None of you are cool for thinking otherwise.
Have you ever considered people disagree with you for reasons other than being "edgy"
Getting pretty tired of all the edgy "he's not actually that bad, really" posts I've been seeing. Guys a POS and everyone knows it. None of you are cool for thinking otherwise.
Ah yes, asking for people to provide reasoning, logic, or at least proof of these claims is edgy and in no way just wanting to actually know if its, like, true or not. Facts dont matter. -[Hold on im double checking this part]-
Have you ever considered people disagree with you for reasons other than being "edgy"
When the subject is Martin Shkreli, not really.
When the subject is Martin Shkreli, not really.
I dont know, guys a dickhead but calling him the "scum of the earth" sounds like uninformed hyperbole.
When the subject is Martin Shkreli, not really.
And yet, 3-4 threads in, nobody has ever been able to actually explain to me why he's scum of the Earth lol
When the subject is Martin Shkreli, not really.
Except he's really not that bad.
Getting pretty tired of all the edgy "he's not actually that bad, really" posts I've been seeing.
I don't see any posts saying that. All I've seen are posts providing more information on the topic. Information you don't seem to like very much... wonder why?
Fuck Shkreli and fuck the pharmaceutical industry. Why should medicine be a for-profit thing again? Medical research should be publically funded.
Except he's really not that bad.
Ah, there's one of those edgy posts again (User was banned for this post ("Calm down." - Bradyns))
Why is he scum of the earth? Care to explain why you feel that way?
He hiked up the price of an affordable drug to ridiculous amounts as a starter, causing people who relied on it to get fucked over tremendously. He then lied and said he would reduce the price due to the backlash and never did. He literally price-gouged it for profit just because he acquired the rights to it. He acts like a spoiled shithole all the time as well and isn't afraid to flaunt his wealth. I don't agree with what he has done, nor how he acts. I despise people like him, but that's just my opinion. Other people are free to disagree with me.
Ah, there's one of those edgy posts again
Ah hold up, im sorry, you're not one of the people who tried to justify committing a crime because the guy you committed it on is a bigot, my mistake. Now i remember, you're the guy, currently claiming other people are being edgy, who literally said it was totally okay to bully a child because of things his father did. So you're calling people edgy for wanting to fact check? Just want to make sure im understanding that clearly. Im sensing lack of self awareness here.

Last I remember he said he would raise it again if he could.
Ah, there's one of those edgy posts again
Care to explain why he's scum of the earth instead of trying a pathetic attempt at trolling ?
