For years, we've been trying to figure out where Scott Forstall, Apple's former senior vice-president of iOS, had gone since leaving the company in 2012. Admittedly, we didn't expect the answer to be Broadway.
You remember Forstall. He was Apple co-founder Steve Jobs's protégé, largely responsible for the look and feel of iOS from 2007 until 2012. His love of skeuomorphism was unbridled, and for a time, it looked like he could be a candidate for CEO.
...
Well, on Friday, we got a few clues. First, the Sony leaks (a.k.a. the gift that keep on giving) suggest that Forstall is acting as some sort of advisor to Snapchat.
That makes sense, but the bigger news appears to come from Forstall's Twitter account. It seems the former Apple executive is now a Broadway producer.
Soo I guess this is a new (but less personal-ish) rendition of that Dikatana poster about being "John Ramero's bitch" ?
Remember he's the guy who has a major hard on for skeuomorphic design which separated Apple's design departments until Ive stepped in

The transition from unnecessarily glossy Windows Vista-esque tiles to smooth gradients with vectored icons is one of the best design changes I've seen in the past ten years, although I will always miss that iOS 5 vibe. I also forgot how annoying it was for the photos app to be represented by a flower

I actually do miss the iOS5-6 feel as well but iOS7-8 is a good change for the system. Not the best flat designs but the use of Gaussian blur to allow the user to centralise on what is important is a great design principle, in fact I wish Google and MS did that
I'm going to always assume that the photo app's icon was just a placeholder and then they thought "fuck it, what's the first thing people do when they get an iPhone? They take a photo of their garden or scenery or shit to see the quality of the image"
