Confirming earlier rumors, Jared Leto is officially onboard to play the Joker in the upcoming Suicide Squad film, directed by David Ayer. He's joined by a long list of actors including Will Smith, Tom Hardy, and Margot Robbie, who will each play Deadshot, Rick Flagg, and Harley Quinn, respectively. The actors will team up to form the titular Suicide Squad, a group of supervillains tasked with completing black ops missions for the US government. Rounding out the cast are lesser known talents Jai Courtney and Cara Delevingne, who will play the villains Boomerange and Enchantress. Casting for the film isn't complete however: according to The Wrap, the studio is still looking for an actress to play Amanda Waller, a pivotal character in the Squad's mythos. Rumors at the moment point to How To Get Away With Murder star Viola Davis. Meanwhile, Jesse Eisenberg is rumored to be joining the cast, reprising his Batman v. Superman role as Lex Luthor. Suicide Squad is due to hit theaters on August 5th, 2016. Source: http://www.theverge.com/2014/12/2/7323891/will-smith-tom-hardy-and-jared-leto-all-onboard-for-dcs-suicide-squad
I honestly prefer it when they use lesser known acting talent.
You can't have Tom Hardy in a DC movie and have him NOT be The Big Guy.
This article fails to mention the best part. The studio's shortlist of actresses being eyed for the role includes Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer and Oprah Winfrey, whom sources say would be WB's first choice for the part.
I'm not that familiar with suicide squad. Why is the Joker in it? And why is Deathstroke not in it?
Ew this means Jaden Smith being Static Shock is becoming much more likely. [editline]2nd December 2014[/editline] Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn will be nice though.
Ew this means Jaden Smith being Static Shock is becoming much more likely.
Oh god please no, I actually like Static Shock.
Jared Leto is going to be an amazing Joker. This is a role that really can suit him, and i can't wait.
A bit surprised by Will Smith but Jared Leto as the Joker sounds totally doable.
I'm not that familiar with suicide squad. Why is the Joker in it? And why is Deathstroke not in it?
Suicide Squad, by nature, has a rotating roster. Joker's probably there for marketability? I don't think he's ever been on the team, though the current series has Harley and Joker's Daughter as Joker-ish characters
I feel bad for any actor who has to live up to Heath Ledgers Joker, however I think Jared Leto could do a good job.
I'm not that familiar with suicide squad. Why is the Joker in it? And why is Deathstroke not in it?
Suicide Squad is an antihero team of incarcerated supervillains who act as deniable assets for the United States government, undertaking high-risk black ops missions in exchange for commuted prison sentences. Deathstroke is on the newest version of the suicide squad, Idk why he isn't in the movie. I guess they didn't want the movie to be "Batman Villains also some guys". But hey, they have Rick Flagg, which ALMOST NO ONE will fucking know. Also he's being played by the guy who played Bane.
The latest animated dc film was a suicide squad one it was actually pretty good "Batman Assault on Arkham" , im not sure why Will smith is Deadshot though , i always thought he was more of a serious character, dont want another After Earth happening.
Comic book writers will think up of the strangest things.
she's not actually his daughter

Not a guy cracking up jokes but not really the emotionless shit he did on After Earth.
I guess as the universe hasn't had time to grow like Marvels, and they want to compete with Marvel, they need a different selling point for an ensemble film. An ensemble film of Marvel characters is something you see because you loved those characters in other movies and have grown to love the actors (mostly unknowns). It seems with DC they want to rope you in with big names. Can't blame them. Everybody seems well enough cast anyway
I glanced at this title and thought it said Jay Leno :v: I need to learn how to actually read one of these days
I, for one, look forward to the triumphant return of Batman/American Psycho crossover jokes
Margot Robbie will be perfect as Harley Quinn. Really, if she just used her Brooklyn accent Wolf of Wall Street, I would eat that shit up. I already love Harley as is.
Oprah will be waller
there's only one way to know if this movie's gon b gud or not, really in the first trailer, whether or not Waller is a slim, attractive, appealing character or THE WALL

I still can't get all that worked up about any DC Comic adaptations anymore. All Warner Bros seems to be doing is greenlighting anything that could somehow match Disney's Marvel movies rather haphazardly. Marvel seems to have a plan and DC is just throwing shit and seeing what's going stick. That being said, this could be rather good given the raw talent.
I wanna see a DC movie with Mxyzptlk in it. Imagine the gritty so-real superman from man of steel, fighting with a short old dude in an orange suit and with a purple bowler hat. Bonus points if he's voiced by Gilbert Gottfried, like in superman TAS.
It's gonna suck to see suicide squad and the word joker next to each other constantly as this movie is promoted more. Still not over Ledger, on this end. Otherwise, this looks like decent casting.
Tom Hardy and Jared Leto rule they can be in anything
Deadshot in the Green Arrow tv series is a pretty cool dude, I'd rather see him than Will Smith.
If this isn't in the movie I don't give a shit.
Ew this means Jaden Smith being Static Shock is becoming much more likely.
I don't know why, but thinking about Jaden as Static Shock is amusing to me.
I never realized how gory DC could be until I looked up King Shark. I don't think I've ever seen DC do blood and gore to this level.
