Budget is 4000 Australian dollars, my main purpose is for it to last around 4-5 years have ddr4 and be able to run games at 4K resolution with VR as well. Screen's are already sorted and peripheral devices as well.
Intel are releasing a new series of Broadwell-e CPUs. If you want a 4 year platform, I'd go for X99. Also, wait for the GTX 1080 graphics card, it's coming out next week or so.
Yeah wait for availability of new parts coming soon. Do you plan on overclocking?
1080 is already out
No good ones are. [editline]1st June 2016[/editline] And you say you've got everything else set, mind sharing? With a budget like that there's a lot more that can make your overall experience more enjoyable than just raw power.
]I'm not adding much else to this because AMDs Polaris hasn't dropped yet and you should probably wait before dropping over a grand on a single GTX 1080.
He has 4000$, he'll still have a bit of extra left and he'll be futureproofed, I'd say it's well worth the money.
Yeah, the first customs from evga come out around june 14th, I have one preordered for 680$ US which is like 920 aus, I doubt the hybrid and classifieds will be more than 100$'s more U.S. It's definitely worth it, and he won't need extra PCI lanes if he isn't SLI'ing which he probably shouldn't especially with direct x12 around the corner.
