Spec Ops: The Line
" Since the reboot, he says that it's possible that the game could go in a whole new direction, in which mercenaries could potentially take the lead role from counter-terrorists."
So it isn't a Rainbow Six game anymore?
How could you have a Rainbow Six game that doesn't focus on counter-terrorists? The entire point of Rainbow is to take down terrorist cells.

That's not quite the same, all things considered.
The original concept looked amazing. They should have made it work rather then reboot it. It baffles my mind how 2 dudes can make Overgrowth but a whole team can't make a simple scripted event work.
I bet it'll still have the sound loop bug from Vegas and Vegas 2. Hell even Rogue Spear had the fucking bug

Maybe it's about terrorists taking down counter-terrorist cells???
Either not enough opportunity for microtransactions or couldn't be turned into an annual release, Vegas 2 wasn't quite working in my experience and that didn't stop them.
I don't think there's any way a new Rainbow Six could be good, especially with all the fast paced modern combat of Battlefield 3/Call of Duty and the new user bases that they have to develop for. The Rainbow Six Vegases were pretty shitty, at least compared to the old Rainbow Sixes. Everybody's too afraid to make an actual tactical shooter these days, and it definitely won't come from Ubisoft this time around.

The Vegas games were really good, they just weren't like the older games where you could plan your teams and where they went, which could be really good when you pulled off a plan perfectly or fucking awful when the AI team mates would just run along the planned path and let terrorists gun them down. A new game could do pretty well, they'd just have to accept it would be a fairly niche game though and not expect it to have 6 million sales.
now is the perfect time to pull out a new rainbow six but with the concept of the old ones, it'll be able to set itself apart from games like COD and BF4 but most likely they'll just try to chase the same audience as COD and BF which sucks

I would argue that Vegas had really shitty AI, especially in terrorist hunt. Not to say I haven't had fun in it, I still occasionally play it with friends every couple of months and I remember liking the first one a lot when it came out. Still, I don't think a lot of it holds up very well.

Yeah the AI can be pretty bad. I've been replaying Vegas 2 and the most common and most annoying thing is when your 2 squad mates can't figure out how to get through a door. And the enemy AI isn't fantastic but I think the gameplay and pacing are fine. The Multiplayer was also pretty great, much less spastic than CoD.
Desperately have been waiting for another Rainbow 6 game. Vegas 1 & 2 were my life back then. I made so many online friends through those two games.
Only gripe I had was the magically appearing terrorists. You always got to a point where player vs. player gamemodes didn't give off enough experience, so to keep leveling up at a comfortable rate you had to do the terrorist hunts or whatever they were called. It really sucked having random terrorists popping up behind you and shit. Other than that the 2 Vegas games were my favorite FPSs ever.
If it doesn't have Ts spawning behind you or indefinite machinegun fire in your ear, it just isn't R6.
Also, plot-wise, after Vegas 2, I don't think these guys would be able to write a good plot either way, even if they keep/kept the angle of American terrorists (that, as mentioned earlier, was an attempt at relevancy that fell through). I mean, the entire reason the story of the Vegas games happened was because of [sp]one Rainbow member having a goddamn murderous temper tantrum over his own huge screw-up years previous and then trying to get 'revenge' on the person that spoke up for his ass after that.[/sp]
