Could really use some help on this as I'm pretty stumped about it. I have a 2001 chevy blazer and it's currently stuck in 4WD High. For the past few months i've been slowly trying to figure it our and fix it and just pulled the fuse out so i could drive it in 2WD. Anyway, I just got a new computer module for it as I figured it may have been that(i think there's only one, the on that's in the vehicle under the dash on the passenger side). Sadly this didn't fix it at all. Once the fuse is in and i start the vehicle nothing happens. The lights for the 4WD switch are not on. I already know it's stuck in 4 high so If i try to switch it to 4 low or 2WD, the module clicks, the transfer case under the vehicle makes a whirring sound, the modules clicks again, it whirrs again, then nothing. Also, the lights are still not on for the switch. If i fidget the switch around a little bit, they'll come on and stay on as long as i hold it there. I've had to replace the switch before too. If anyone has had an issue like this beofre or has some suggestions, I'd love to hear about some help. Currently i pulled the fuse again and disconnected the battery in hopes that it might need the computer to be reset. But We'll see I guess.
I had this issue with my 2000 jimmy. (same car). The 4hi button stayed on no matter what. Eventually it dried up the differential and the diff turned into a giant mess of piwdered gears, and then wracked the transmission. Anyway, shortly after the car was destroyed, i learned of a couple sensors on the transmission that allow it to shift power to the front wheels. One of mine was broken, and didnt allow it to switch back. If the noise you hear soumds like a helicopter taking off somewhere under the vehicle (but quieter), then the electronic diff has already failed. This issue usually occirs around 100,000 miles. My guess is a bad 4wd system. Get it up on a lift, and turn it on. Hold a foot on the break and slowly apply gas in drive. Have someone watch the front axles. If they try to spin, the diff is working, and something electronic is dead. If the back wheels spin, and the front just makes a whirring noise, its toast. the b
I dont think my issue is related to the differential or tranmission. It has to do with either a vacuum line or else the switch that's on the side of the transfer case.

Is that the ones with the vacuum ball thing? I think left side near the headlight.
Check all the lines. And make sure the res works.
