A teacher at a suburban Texas middle school faces felony charges for allegedly having a sexual relationship with one of her 15-year-old male students that dates back to at least November of 2013.
In at least one case, Hopper Middle School math teacher Corrie Anne Long, 43, performed oral sex on the boy in her classroom.
Authorities first started investigating Long after a fellow student told school staff that he saw Long and the 15-year-old alleged victim engaged in bizarre horseplay - namely, the witness said he saw the 15-year-old student spanking Long.
In another instance, the student told school staff that he saw Long sitting in the 15-year-old's lap, according to court records first obtained by Chron.com.
School staff reported the incident to authorities, who interviewed the 15-year-old alleged victim.
During interviews with investigators, the 15-year-old said he had known long since he was in sixth grade and she currently was his math teacher. He also told authorities that Long performed oral sex on him in November of 2013 while the two were alone in her classroom just before the Thanksgiving break.
The school - located in a suburb of Houston - released a statement about the charges against Long, saying that she has been removed from her position with the school as soon as the allegations against her were made.
Okay.
I'd actually say the student sounds pretty lucky, at least as far as his own desires go. He's 15, by far old enough to make his own decisions
"he saw Long and the 15-year-old alleged victim engaged in bizarre horseplay - namely, the witness said he saw the 15-year-old student spanking Long."
definitely sounds like it was entirely consensual.

There's a difference between "it isn't rape because she's a woman" and "it isn't rape because it was consensual"
You don't fucking spank someone like that if you don't want to bone.
Okay.
Statutory rape doesn't give a fuck about what you want to do. If you're underage, you're underage.
Why are there so many cases of teachers fucking students in media recently? Have priests ran out of fashion?

(I dont imply anything here, I'm legitimatly curious)

Probably coincidence. This isn't a new thing, it's just a thing that's been put onto the news more often.
the 15-year-old said he had known long since he was in sixth grade
How hard was it to capitalize the L in long? I had to reread it a few times to understand the sentence.

Whether or not the perpetrator is conventionally attractive should not determine whether or not it's bad for the kid

From legal standpoint sure. But keep in mind that the age of consent is diffrent depenting on country/state, so it's not that easy to jugde this moraly.

It wasn't consensual. You have to be 16 to give legal consent.
Literally every single thread with an article like this ends the same way.
So this is what they mean when they talk about the head of the class?
It wasn't consensual. You have to be 16 to give legal consent.
Just because it will not be considered consensual in a court room doesn't mean it really isn't.

no shit, how could i've been so stupid
A teacher at a suburban Texas middle school

The age of consent in Texas is 17 (Texas Penal Code Section 21.11). However, "...It is an affirmative defense to prosecution under this section that the actor...was not more than three years older than the victim
43 years old is a bit much older for a 15 year old. So, yeah, I'd say it's pretty easy to judge this morally given the context. You could also compare it to other places in America, but that would be fruitless because 16 is the lowest age of consent, and that very often requires that the offender be no more than 19 or 20.
It wasn't consensual. You have to be 16 to give legal consent.
This is a bit stupid though, it's just one year.
This'd be pretty bad if he was 13 but what if this was a 16 year old? Would you react differently?
Listen, you can't legally give consent for good reason. Scientifically speaking, you aren't mentally mature at that age. Sociologically speaking, a person of power and influence over you can easily manipulate a situation so that the immature can be convinced into giving faux consent. There's a reason why this is the case. If the sexes were reversed, or if they teacher wasn't relatively attractive, then there would be outrage and for good reason. If this were two people of the same age and social status then there would be a fair rational for it being harmlessly consensual. But because of the situation, the age different, the power relations, then there is every reason to realistically assume that the student in this case does not have legal or reasonable right to consensual sexual activity. This is the reasoning why there's usually wiggle room with ages with age of consent in America- people of the same age but that are underage are given legal ability but people 2 years older or younger than each other can not legally or justifiably act.
