Since the source is in a different language and I'll have to translate it I hope for an exception of the "pasting entire article"-rule :v:

Photograph Nathan Lediard were on an assigment in Kristiansund this monday when he experienced his life's most terrifying moment, writes Driva
Lediard, who runs a studio in Surnadal, takes pictures of homes and condos for real estate agents.
- I was in the bank to get a key, and went then 200 meters to the apartment I was to take a picture of. I took the pictures and went back into my car, says Lediard to adressa.no.
On the way out from the parking house Lediard met a car with two persons inside staring at him.
While he drove, a client called him.
- I had seen a few police cars, and stopped. I didn't take the risk of getting a ticket for talking without a hands-free. As I stopped, I saw the car from the parking house, fifty meters behind me.
Then Lediard realized he was surrounded by the police.
- Black clad, armed policemen with their helmet visors down jumped out of the cars. They yelled that I should put both hands on the wheel.
The police dragged Lediard out of the car, handcuffed him and got him into the police car.
- I said "I'm a photographer, I'm on a job, what's going on? This has to be amisunderstanding!" Several officers was to check my car, but didn't find any machineguns, Lediard tells.
It turned out that the police had gotten a tip from a person who claimed that a man walked around downtown Kristiansund with a machine gun. Apparantly the tipper had thought Lediard's camera tripod legs a weapon.
Then the police started to understand that the witness had been mistaken. Lediard was taken to the station, and got an formal apology from the police.
The next day he was still shocked.
- When the police took out their magazines from their weapon, it sunk in that here there were sharp loaded guns, which were for a moment aimed at me. It was like a movie, it was so unreal.
Lediard still thinks he was treated well by the police.
- I understand that they can't take any risks. What annoys me the most is that people are so paranoid that they see a camera as a weapon, says the photographer.
Chief of Operations Styrkar Gagnat at the police says to Driva that they had to take the claims of an armed man seriously. They sent out three patrols.
well it's good that they took that dude's claims seriously

Good that he understands that. Kudos.
Jesus people are paranoid. Hopefully he doesn't walk around with one of these:

He'll probably get the army called in.
Depending on what tripod and how he was carrying it, it's pretty understandable

At first glance from a distance you could easily mistake that for something else :v:

That looks like some sort of tactic00l attachment for a giant ass gun.
To be fair, the OP's image does look a bit like a hunting rifle or shotgun. Just with a huge camera on the side of it. A machine gun, though...

It's translated though, the guy might've been meaning something more like automatic weapon or assault rifle.
Holy fuck if I get to see you I'm going to kick your ass.

I really don't get why people always say scopes and sights are tactic00l, tactic00l is for useless shit. Scopes, aimpoints, red dot sights, etc aren't useless.

I'm going to start banning people for "snip your article" posts because you should all understand the rule by now. Don't dump gigantic articles in here, and definitely don't do the opposite like people have been thinking and drop a single link and zero content
As an aside, the automatic translation did a pretty good job. OP, did you use Google?

No, I'm norwegian myself. Sorry if there's some grammatical errors, wrote this while I still had a bed head on me.
This is great. Hope he was honest about the Police treating him well, very funny misunderstanding.

They're Norwegian police.
Good on him for not blaming the cops, they were doing their jobs after all. I can't understand how anyone would see a gun though, they must have had terrible vision.
this wouldn't have happened if guns were allowed because then they'd know what they look like
I'm kidding
but yeah, it's understandable in a country like this.
Just going for a nice little shoot with my canon.
I do love going on shoots!

One time I was taking pictures on my college campus after dark, just walking around trying out some long exposures and stuff. I was kinda to the side of a building, and out of nowhere, I just hear "FREEZE PUT YOUR HANDS UP!"
I was kinda confused at that point what was going on, so I turned around and dropped my camera (it was on a neckstrap), and put my hands up. The cop was pointing his gun at me.
Basically, turns out he thought my camera was a gun, because only 1 night before, he arrested a guy with an actual gun walking around the campus.

Cops do this shit all the time though, and it's getting to be retarded.
Cameras and guns are held, and look entirely fucking different.
