The whole gay marriage issue is really a non issue. But hate crimes deeming homosexuals as a minority is kind of silly. You can't just create minorities for people's turn-ons, much less something that's not entirely apparent unless the person announces it.

I don't really think it's necessary to start considering it a hate crime every time someone is abused for being associated with a group. Unless we want to reconsider what hate crime is in general and broaden the definition beyond minorities and to specific types of offenses, allowing everyone equal protection under the law. (Which I don't see why it isn't like that to begin with...) Either way, breaking the law is still breaking the law and criminals should be dealt with accordingly.

The only explanation I can think of for people who say being gay is a choice is that they're actually 50-50 bisexual and don't realize not everyone else is.
