Microsoft made the policy change on the quiet earlier this year after charging developers tens of thousands of dollars to patch their games. There are caveats, we understand. If a developer is deemed to be making an excessive number of re-submissions due to an update failing certification, for example, Microsoft reserves the right to issue a charge. But the changes should make critics of Microsoft's closed platform happier - and align the Xbox ecosystem more closely with the likes of Steam.
Oh, on the 360. Not the One, was about to say theres another step
Nope
Any proof if they are going to charge people on the Xbox One or not yet?
Good. They shouldn't even have charged devs in the first place.
Yes just as the console becomes last gen now 360 players can have all those tf2 updates
Yeah but are they going to do the same for Xbox One?
Yes just as the console becomes last gen now 360 players can have all those tf2 updates
Nope. It's a ram issue since it adds a lot of different models.
Too late, lots of damage has already been done.
Now Valve can finally give Xbox Users 20 GB full of hats.
Now Valve can finally give Xbox Users 20 GB full of hats.
Updates, content patches are still force payments (for the consumer) afaik.
I think Microsoft really likes Steam and they want to duplicate the community and the money its making. Maybe we will see another hat game for Xbox ? ~~The future will tell
Phil Fish rejoices!
Is this confirmed or just highly suggested from sources?
They actually charged for patches?
8 years is better than never I guess
Riiiight as the X360 becomes somewhat of a useless brick...
Great. Maybe now Minecraft will get more updates...
The fact that the 360 will be "obsolete"(previous gen) when Xbone comes out makes this shitfuckingly irrelevant. If they want to bring some good news, have the costs removed from the Xbone as well.
Riiiight as the X360 becomes somewhat of a useless brick...
Many people prefer the 360 over "The One".
They actually charged for patches?
Yeeeep. And they had other annoying policies, too; Valve, for example, intended to have updates for the console versions of Team Fortress 2, or at least the 360 version. Turns out only one patch/update could be free, though, and everyone would've had to pay for any other content updates as DLC.
perhaps more MC360 updates? Could I finally experience jungles without having a framerate of 12?
They actually charged for patches?
I expect this is due to MS having to host and provide the patches from their own servers. But the XBL sub more than covers that.
So they're basically just trying to turn their network into another Steam? lol, that'll never happen. [editline]27th June 2013[/editline] They're incapable of doing that.
That's what they tried to do with Xbox One before they backpedaled at the speed of light
Is this confirmed or just highly suggested from sources?
Microsoft has not confirmed it yet. And Microsoft being Microsoft probably won't talk.
