• Cleaning a pipe and grinder?
    18 replies, posted
Alright DD, I need a serious clean on my pipe and my grinder, as I'm moving overseas soon. I need to clean it so that there is no trace or smell whatsoever, without my parents noticing. I need to be able to take it in my suitcase through the airport. Any suggestions? Oh, and I cannot order/buy stuff in smoke shops or online, has to be household items.
Rubbing alcohol, or ideally buy a new pipe.
Rubbing alcohol, or ideally buy a new pipe.
I tried rubbing alcohol and pipe cleaner thingies, and it cleans it fairly well, however the smell lingers. I'd not want to buy a new pipe, as this is my first pipe ever, it's almost like a holy thing to me. I'm thinking of shipping it after i cleaned it with rubbing alcohol in a box, stating that it is filled with "glass artwork and tools". Any suggestions on how to get it out of Canada without getting arrested?
Did you put salt in the rubbing alcohol? I'd try boiling, thats how I'd clean my old shit.

The salt acts as an abrasive, so you can A)Pour some salt into the pipe, followed by the alcohol B)Put the pipe into a ziplock baggie with the salt and alcohol Shake that shit. I had a pipe that was clear crystal and it ended up pitch black. There was no way pipe cleaners could fit inside all the nooks but after 2 rinses using method A it was back to brand new

Here's what you do make a cup of coffee, pour it into the bong, clean the bong with the coffee. Do the same with your grinder. The smell should be gone.
Method B is fairly clean, all the dirty alcohol stays in the bag and then you just wash the pipe off However with method A, you gotta plug the bowl, mouthpiece(carb too if it has one. If you use your fingers, hold on tight. Ya don't want a lovely brown moneyshot) When you are ready to empty the pipe, have hot water running in the sink because the resin will stick to everything(its a bitch to clean resin off the sink).

This is why I stick to joints.
boil some salt water (put salt in the water, a lot of it), and then put your pipe in there. Let it sit for about 5 minutes, then move it around. the res should just slide off the pipe. If you need to clean it even more, throw it in a bowl of vinegar and let it sit around and then boil it again. nigga.
I like how you added nigga.
If it's glass make sure you put it I the water BEFORE you boil it, or the temperature change will break it

Methylated spirits and warm water works for me. Or a product called "Easy Off Bam" which is practically something that is seriously acidic and cleans of practically anything. I leave the Easy Off Bam inside there for a minute or 2, then shake it around a lot (coving the holes with my fingers) and then pour it out and repeat it 2 or 3 times. MAKE SURE YOU RINSE IT OUT WELL WITH WATER THEN ALCOHOL/MOUTH WASH! The cleaning agent is most likely toxic in the product I use.
Guess why pipe cleaners where invented. Just drip some rubbing alcohol into your pipe and clean the shit out of it. Works wonders, I swear. I don't even need to use rubbing alcohol, mostly water is enough. For the smell I just use some bathing soap, you don't smell it afterwards if you wash it out several times with water.

I always use acetone when I'm cleaning my pipe, works perfectly.
