• $532 PC - Maybe needs some adjustments.

So i have this computer that i want to build. Not for gaming use but for a low budget high performance computer. I spent a couple of nights putting together this $532 list of parts: I chose the i3 because i felt that the core 2 duo is old technology, and in the future if need be it will be easy to upgrade to an i5 when the price drops. Also i chose a motherboard with both i3 and i5 compatibility, also that has one with usb 3.0 ports. The case is left out because i already got one. I chose a Samsung HDD for 2 reasons 1) its cheap 2) lots of good reviews on lots of websites. Another thing you are going to ask is about the ram. Again, not a high powered PC and good reviews. So i would like some help with this. Maybe some of your computer skills with assist in making this a better computer. Im willing to go up to $600 but would rather this stay at around the same price. So here it is! Do you need an OS/monitor/mouse/anything else? There is so much wrong on this build. Good try though. I'll try it.
Do you need an OS/monitor/mouse/anything else? There is so much wrong on this build. Good try though. I'll try it.
Oh..Thanks im really not that experienced at computer building.
So do you need Windows, a monitor, or anything else?
What do you plan on doing with this build?
Its just a computer for another room that i can go on the internet, do some photoshop work and play a few games. Its mainly to replace a computer i already have in the room. So i already have a case, monitor anything like that. The only thing i need is the computer.
Do you have a copy of Windows? [editline]02:53PM[/editline] Also just wondering, what case do you have? And your monitor size or resolution is?
Do you have a copy of Windows?
Yes i own windows 7, i was going to put it on the old one. Then i found out it doesn't run it that well And as for the case. its a midsized case as for the name i don't know.
Yes i own windows 7, i was going to put it on the old one. Then i found out it doesn't run it that well
Monitor size? Just to be sure, it is not the Windows 7 upgrade thing right? What does it exactly say on the Windows 7 disc/box in other words
Monitor size? Just to be sure, it is not the Windows 7 upgrade thing right? What does it exactly say on the Windows 7 disc/box in other words
No its a brand new copy so not the upgrade. And the monitor is a 23 inch lcd

[editline]03:06PM[/editline] Also, is there a way you could find out what your case is? A picture would help and there should be the company's name on it somewhere.
There is like no markings on this thing. The only logo is an "i" So i took a picture, also what concerns you with this case?
Might be BTX instead of ATX. Car analogy: The chassis (case) does not fit with the engine (motherboard). So yeah I'm not sure if that is a good case. Can someone verify this? [editline]03:18PM[/editline] Where did you get that computer/case by the way?
The original computer was built by a local man that builds computers but i so found out that he was an asshole cause it broke once and he said i was trying to overclock it.
What a douche. Anyway, new case I guess. Also, what do you think of the build? Enough hard drive space, 500 gigabytes? You said you were going to play games. Like Source games or Crysis?
Take a quick pictre inside the case, we dont know for sure what form it is.
ill have to look at it more but it looks like a pretty good build, thanks! :D and just small games like source games.
ill have to look at it more but it looks like a pretty good build, thanks! :D and just small games like source games.
If it is just Source games and the like you can shave off $50 to $100 if you want.
For source games, I found that my 4350 can all but max them out.
Take a quick pictre inside the case, we dont know for sure what form it is.
Sorry for the long time I dont think this is btx' '
For source games, I found that my 4350 can all but max them out.
Very true, but he has about $600 to spend, so why not get a 4670/4770/4850/5770? If he had a lower budget that would be better. And, the 4550 can be found for a similar price as the 4350 yet outperforms it considerably. Also, OP I'm not sure if that is a BTX or ATX. Maybe another builder can check that out for ya.

The old computer is an amd Athlon 64 Wikiquote BTX's thermal design specifies a particular processor location at the front of the board, where a special case ventilation duct is located. It places the northbridge behind the processor, and memory DIMMs beside the northbridge, arranged parallel to front-to-back airflow. Unfortunately, this is not possible for processors with an integrated memory controller (on-die northbridge), such as the Athlon 64 and Intel Core i7.[3] To equalize the length of the signal traces to the DIMMs, these processors must be centered in front of them. The DIMMs cannot go beside the processor, because they would then extend past the front of the motherboard, and they would obstruct the airflow if positioned behind it.
That is definately an ATX case. No worries :buddy:
Thats ATX God thats some old Mobo Its beige :psyduck:
So is everyone ok with my build? No one has given feedback. And OP, you could swap out the Phenom II for an Athlon II and the 5770 for a 4670/4850 if you want to save some cash.
