Pretty good idea actually
I always end up looting everything and being over prepared in RPG's (with full inventories) and yet I still abuse quicksaving and never end up really needing to use 95% of those items.

I thought this was going to be like you get drunk for quicksaving too often in too short of a time frame. Or that you'd load drunk. No, it seems it's just quicksaving requires an item to do.

It is alcohol and overindulging will have consequences.
Drinking is also one of the skills in the game. So you might retain your faculties for longer with a higher skill level.
